SoCal - thank you for your thoughts on gay marriage. I enjoyed reading that. Its wonderful to see that not ALL Christians follow the same one-sides belief system. What you said makes a lot of sense and gives me a tad bit of hope:)

Go Obama!

Whether it's socialism or communism, if it works it works...not that I'm a communist or don't know the difference.  I don't know why Americans are so scared of socialism anyways (well, I know why, but find it rediculous)....it's just a term...we have had aspects of socialism infused in our government for many, many years now.

I am a BIG  FAT NO on Prop. 8 (I'm with you Tobi and Monterey).

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that other countries are in support of Obama. I think they agree with his politics and trust him much more than they do McCain. Also, I believe other countries dislike Bush a lot and since McCain has agreed with Bush a lot and shares the same political party they are not a fan of his either.

It is so refreshing to see so many people voting for Obama. I am seriously feeling like I am going to have a nervous break down over this election. I want Obama to win so bad. I just came from a family function and many people in my family are for McCain and not calm about it either. They make rude comments about Obama's politics. Then I have a could biggoted cousins who say awfully hateful things about Obama that have nothing to do with politics. I came home and started crying. I dont understand their choice but I really dont like hearing it over and over and having it shoved down my throat and being the odd one out. And I cannot stand hearing the biggoted comments even more. I am so stressed out by all of this and don't know what I will do if Obama does not win. I feel like voting for McCain is a drastic mistake that will keep the United States in war, a poor economy, and filled with ignorance. I cannot stand to live somewhere that makes me feel this way.

Though DH and I are independants, I will be voting for Obama tomorrow. I had put a lot of thought into my vote and whether voting for Obama or the Independant candidate (Ralph Nader) would be beneficial...I found that they had agreed on a lot off issues and that I tended to lean towards Obamas politics anhow.

For me, and I apologize to any and all republicans, but I am thouroghly SICK and TIRED of republican politics in general. I'm sick of Bush, I'm sick of economic crisis and I want the troops brought home!!

Do I think that there is a better chance of assasination attempts with Obama. Yes- but that is just one more reason to stand behind him! Have him prove that we as Americans can look beyond the past racisim and color of a man (or womans) skin and vote them in based on their political beliefs and wants for this country!

I respect everyones opinion and all I really want is for people to get out and vote!

I just don't think I could stand living through another 4-8 years of Bush-like politics, thanks-

Oh, and although I'm Catholic, both DH and I would vote a huge NNNOOOOOO to prop 8 if we lived in Cali. We have plenty of gay friends who deserve the same rights as the rest of us in America!!

i guess i'm the odd one out...i'd prefer not to be bashed either... i'm voting McCain, but it seems like my vote wont matter because everyone is voting Obama.

if i lived in Cali i'd vote no on prop 8, i think that its wrong to tell a man and a man or a woman and a woman that they cant get married to the person they love. i'm all for gay marriage!

Savex - your not alone... I'm a McCain supporter as well.  The joy of democracy is that our votes DO count.  Whether our party wins or not we are entitled to our opinions and our vote.

Savex, I dont think anyone is going to "bash" you here:) Especially just for expressing your opinion. Thats just silly.:) Anyway, your kitten is MUCH too cute for me to ever bash you. Yeah I know that makes no sense but I dont care. Hey did anyone see McCaine on SNL this weekend? I thought that QVC sketch was really hilarious. He has a good sense of humor I will give him that. He has been on there a few times making fun of himself and hes always funny. Im still not voting for him LOL, but I like him on SNL.

While McCain and Palin scare the crap out of me, I certainly wouldn't bash anyone who agrees with their views.  Honestly, I really used to respect McCain.  8 years ago he is someone that I truly would have considered voting for.  But this campaign has really made me feel that he is not the right person to lead the country.  He doesn't seem to know anything about the economy, his VP selection was worse than a joke and his insistance on continually bringing up non-issues like Bill Ayers really call his judgement into question.  If you're going to crucify Obama for serving on a committee with a man who has never been convicted of a crime, what about Palin's associations with the Alaska Seccesionist Party?  Her husband was a member of a group that "loved" America so much that they didn't want to be a part of it!!  I'm sorry, but her throwing that particular stone over and over just angers me.  Clearly, her own past is far from snowy white.

As far as prop 8, I wish that I lived in California so I could vote no.  You know what, if you are against gay marriage, don't have one!  But keep your religion out of my life.  I am a Christian, and I believe that if Christ was here today, he would fully support gay rights.  He was all about peace and love and turning the other cheek.  Frankly, even if being gay is a huge sin and they will burn in the fires of hell for all eternity, isn't that between them and God?  Why do we have any say in the matter?  SoCal was completely right.  THere is a separation of Church and State in this country for a reason.  No one is saying that every church must perform gay marriages, or that everyone has to have a same sex marriage.  But why do gay people not deserve the same rights as straight people?  Judge not, lest ye be judged.

HeidiBride- I am also a Christian, and I must admit to you that your second paragraph was so well spoken- I must agree 1000%.

Gay people are just that, people who have rights just like everybody else.

Those who have gone without sin, cast the first stone!

I voted!  I waited in line for 2 hours and 45 minutes.  The early turnout was HUGE!!

So my vote is cast?  how about yours?

Pharm, I posted the same thing in the Current Events thread, but I voted not too long ago and filled in my bubble as carefully as possible for Obama/Biden. I felt like the turn out was good but I did not have to wait at all. My polling place must have a smaller selection, it is at a small church so there would not be room for too many people.

I am so glad I got to cast my vote. Hopefully American will agree with the brides.com population, since it seems like most of us are supporting Obama!

I'm going right after work.  Luckily, my district is pretty small so I shouldn't have too long to wait.

I have to share a kind of funny story with you guys.  I am a placement specialist for a temp agency.  One of my employees called me yesterday asking if he had to work today.  I told him yes and he told me that he might be late because he had to go vote.  I asked him why he couldn't go after work and he said that the polls would be closed because he works until midnight.  Come to find out, his shift doesn't start until 4pm!!!!  I asked why he couldn't go in the morning to vote and he said that he would, but "you never know".  LOL.  I told him that I was usre there won't be a problem, but to bring my # with him just in case.  Ahhhhh, temps.
