a fun recessional song? votes please!
Posted: Oct 19, 2008 1:25 PM

Ok..so FH and I have been racking our brain trying to come up with a really fun recession song.  We are having a casual, afternoon wedding on a cruise ship with about 50 guests.

My suggestions have been:

Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder

I Feel Good by James Brown

We Go Together from Grease

His suggestions:

All for You by Sister Hazel

Another First Kiss by They Might be Giants

Now we also added Island in the Sun by Weezer and All you Need is Love by the Beatles

As you can see, all of these are so different. FH is really into music, and doesn't want anything too corny (which I admit my suggestions are, but I still love them :-)

What do you all think?  Which of these would come on and make you feel like celebrating?  Any ones that you used that we missed?

Thanks, girls!

I really like the idea (I confess we did this too so I am biased). Our processional was "My First, My Last, My Everything" by Barry White. There is a lot of 'talking' at the beginning of the song, which worked for us because it gave me time to get someone to bring me a ladder to get a good kiss out of my DH (he's 6'8"), which also made for a great picture. Our processional was Etta James' "At Last" so we thought they went well together.

Have you picked a processional song yet? That might help you decide.

Of the songs listed above I would probably favor Signed, Sealed, Delivered.

It really depends on your personalities.  I love I Feel Good! I think that would be fun and a little silly.  DH and I walked back out to My Girl by the Temptations and everyone loved it.  It was totally us.

Well, I was just showing my thread to FH and he suggested another one - Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Brian Setzer (originally by Queen).  I also like this one; I just can't decide.

As for your question... our processional is going to be traditional - Canon in D, but a really cool acoustic guitar version by Joe Satriani.

10042008bride - I also love My Girl, unfortunately is was eliminated by FH b/c he thinks its too cheesy.  But I think its adorable.

Well Im a HUGE Brian Setzer fan so I like Crazy Thing Called Love and my second choice would be the Stevie Wonder. Also remember that whatever you DONT use for recessional, you can use when you are introduced into the Reception since that should also be a FUN song.

For our Recessional we used GoodDay Sunshine By the Beatles. I love it beause it just kicks RIGHT IN immediately with the Goodday,sunshine....

Our plan was to play Weezer's "Island in the Sun" as our first song or as the recessional song...I totally think that song is fun and fitting for a wedding...I vote "Island in the Sun."

well my girls walked into chariots of fire and since in our religion we dont dance me and my dad walked into faith hill's butterfly kisses...in the beginning its her singing then in goes into the original butterfly kisses... then as corny as were were we walked out on the star wars theme song... one of our groomsman thought it would be funny if i walked down the aisle to darth vadars music so that was our tribute to his idea plus we are both star wars fans and everyone got a big laugh out of it...well i hope that kindof helps...good luck n best wishes

We used "This will be - an everlasting love" by Natalie Cole. I have always loved that song. I almost didn't use it because it's like the unofficial theme song eHarmony...but in the long run it was what I really wanted.

For something fun I really like - signed, sealed, delivered.

If you want something kinda classic and upbeat this is another by Natalie Cole : L-O-V-E

For something upbeat and contemporary I love Emily King -

However - these aren't as "fun" and Stevie Wonders song.

Good Luck

Our recessional is Everlong by Foo Fighters just because it's us!  But I really like Signed, Sealed, Delivered!

My friend used Let's get Married by Jagged Edge which was really fun and was totally their personlaity.

So I would say to pick a song that really suits you as a couple and sets the tone for the reception.

Let us know what you end up choosing!

EBrown- I love Signed Sealed Delivered by STevie Wonder. I am so anti-bride (as i sit on brides.com lol) I have decided to walk down the aisle to "Isn't She Lovely" just to be different and as non traditional as possible lol

LiLMissSunshine - I was nontraditional with my processional song also. I walked down to Alicia Keys "If I aint got you". But it was a Instrumental Sax version by Eric Darius.

I like the more fun, upbeat songs... so my vote is for "signed, sealed, delivered"

We used "Just The Two of Us" by Bill Withers.

I love the song and Sax music is always beautiful. My original choice was Golden by Chrisette Michele but that song makes me want to cry now so I can only imagine the damage (to my makeup that is) it would cause when I walk down the aisle. I just want everything to be as light hearted as possible. And "Isn't She Lovely
really fits my personality! And i plan to be lovely so it will be perfect! Kiss
