I just registered for Brides.com because I have to have an outlet about this engagement thing! My current boyfriend and I dated back in 2001, but the timing wasn't right. We broke up and dated other people. Those relationships didn't work out, and we crossed paths again this year. We've talked about getting married, and I am so glad it's "right" this time!

Welcome to the boards!  Maybe the proposal is closer than you think!

Wonderful for you and Congrats!

At my wedding, I was shocked when my husband gave to me the ring that my Dad put on my Mother's hand almost 50 years ago. He gave it to me right before the vows. It sure was something.

That's Great!

You really have to know you're getting the "one" who's made for you!

I am very happy for you!

I went out with some friends one weekend to a place he and I used to go often, and I saw him there. We talked on the phone a few times, had one date and were back together three days later. It was quite a whirlwind week, and it has been amazing ever since!

I know exactly what you mean. My EH and I met on a Saturday, went to the zoo together Sunday and we're "dating" by the next weekend. It was the best week ever (besides our honeymoon!).

Why did you edit your first post> I'm confused...

I replied to your original post and you were getting his Mom's ring. Did that not happen? You're not getting it after all?

Ok so... still not engaged. Out of curiosity, I emailed someone at the place I want to use as a reception hall. I'm getting way ahead of myself, I know. It's in a wooded area, and there are giant windows everywhere. I have my heart set on an October wedding, and this location would be gorgeous when all the leaves are changing. The only thing they have in October 2009 is the 17th, and he said they fill up fast. I'm pretty sure it will be all booked up by the time I'm ready to "officially" start planning, so I guess I just have to be flexible on the location. It's a bummer, and I thought I would share my disappointment.

Marriage works because they had a shared sense of humor, mutual respect of an awesome
depth, faith that they were brought together by a force greater than themselves and
a love so unwavering and pure that it is sacred.
