Well we are getting married on Sept 26, 2009. We have the reception area booked and have the church booked as well we just have to meet with the minister before it is confirmed. I kinda know what i want to have, just have to try and pull it all together.

With how long it takes to book a reception or ceremony site and with how much notice most of them need you have the hardest part done.

I agree, I found picking the location to be the hardest part of it as well. once the ceremony & reception locations were booked everything else falls into place rather quickly. I did however find that a lot of places booked up very very quickly. I would go and see a place and then call to book (in one instance the NEXT day) and they would have my date booked. I was looking almost 2 years in advance and kept having that problem. Therefore, once we booked both places it was a huge weight off of our shoulders.

I'm just wondering, where is everyone getting married?  City, State, Venue?

Montgomery, Alabama, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Montgomery -- September 26, 2009

I'm having more issues with my rehearsal than with my wedding though <G>

We're getting married on the beach at gateway national park in sandy hook, NJ. Our small reception is going to follow immediately thereafter at the restaurant there, and we're then having a large reception at a private residence the following saturday near our home in PA

Hey ladies! Haven't been on this thread in awhile. It's good to see that everyone is doing well.

You all are soo right about the ceremony/reception site being the hardest part! Our venue only lets you book exactly a year out from the date you want. So, if we want the wedding date of Saturday, 9/26/2009 we would have to wait until Friday, 9/26/2008 to go and book it. Well, FH took off last Friday morning (9/12) and we went there at 9am to book it for 9/12 of next year. It had already been booked! Apparently their doors open at 8am and someone had come in exactly at 8am to book it! I was sooo disappointed but I figured that we would just try for next week. Well, my Dad and I went this morning and got there at 7:30am. Turns out that every third weekend into every month they set aside for county functions. So, we couldn't book it today either. Next Friday is my last chance! We are going to get there at 7:15am. It's apparently really competitive. If I don't get it next Friday than I won't be a September bride anymore. We will probably end up waiting until May because I'm not at all thrilled with the idea of an October or November wedding. Anything past September is too cold to have an outdoor ceremony. I would just go to another venue but unfortunately this venue was the only pretty venue that was within our price range. Pretty much all of the venues here make you use their vendors but with this one we could bring in our vendors and that saves a lot of money! I'm soo bummed out about it. :( Anyway, if you made it through this whole post I appreciate it! It got a little longer than I expected and turned into a little bit of a vent. But, I'm done now!

Hope everyone is having a good day! :)

Ladies I went gown shopping saturday and it was so much fun. You would think that standing in a small room with a bunch of plastic and having a stranger dress you and see you naked it would not be ideal. However I can not wait till next saturday to go gown shopping again. I tried on around 20 dresses and found about 3 that I favored. I have not fell in love with them yet, but I am favoring the one. Anyways just wanted to share my excitement. How about for the rest of you.

I just started dress shopping too! I have been to 2 different bridal salons and I haven't really found anything that I'm looking for yet. But, I have an appointment this Saturday to try on Maggie Sottero's. I LOVE her dresses and I don't think I could be more excited about it. I have literally been having dreams about going for the past few nights. It is a lot of fun!

I know I am going to try on more dresses Saturday too. I went to davids bridal and I didn't find anything I absolutely feel in love with. Everyone told me that when you try on the wedding gown you end up buying that you know. It could be the first or last dress and you just know that it is the dress for you. I am going to a bridal store that carries a few top designers so I am really excited.

Another Sept 26 2009 bride here! I have tried on a few dresses already and we have picked our place for our reception and a church. We haven't done any booking yet let alone get heavily into it yet but we will be starting everything next month, and hopefully have everything set by next summer. Especially tieing the final threads in August or so, early September of next year. Day of our wedding I plan to be pampered! =)

Oh... where in Michigan?!

Our budget is also in the $3 to 4K range.   I'm just waiting to hear back from the florist and then I can really nail down things.
