Raindrops...Where can I buy them?
Posted: May 2, 2008 7:44 PM

Today I was on ebay and found these awesome things called raindrops.  They are like marbles but much smaller.  I want lots of shine on my tables and I loved the looks of them, but I felt the price was a little high on ebay.  So has anyone ever heard about them or used them.  And if so, where did you get them?

 Thanks!

If they're what I'm thinking of  - glass beads that are flattened into circles or raindrop shape - they can be expensive. I've seen them in craft stores or even the craft section at Wal-Mart. They usually come in a mesh pouch about the size of a fist. Different colors too.

Can you post a link to what you are talking about?  That would help.

Here are two different pictures of them.  They are smaller than normal marbles.

They seem to have a character all their own.  For when you put them into water, some of them float and others will sink.

Those ones on the table still look like the round flat glass beads (might want to think about that trying to save money)

Seems like this could be it.  These are your standard craft bead that are just unfoiled.  Of course the easiest to find was Swarovski, but I'm sure there are cheaper versions out there.

Thanks for the help, but all the ones which were posted are not them.  They are like the large ones you would find at Walmart or Hobby Lobby, but they are smaller.  They are about the size of the eraser on a pencil and oval shaped.  I hope this will help explain them more.

Can you post the link to where you found them on eBay?

EDIT: I think this is was you're talking about :

If so, I've never seen this before.  If you are unable to find them anywhere else when you google them,  then you might not have  a choice but to get them on eBay.

Did u try to offer the seller on ebay a price that seemed more in your price range?? My FH and I sell products on ebay and if someone offers a price above what we get it for we usually sell. As long as there is a profit. If you try that, you might want to knock it off by a little because the seller may counter-offer. For instance you are willing to pay 5 dollars and the seller has it listed for 7 then you should offer 3 dollars because they may send u a counteroffer.

Anyway im not sure if you tried to send an offer but it may be worth a shot.

Why not just actually get beads for sparkle on you're table? Even when looked at closely they will still look beautiful. I do ALLOT of beadwork, and I find artbeads.com to have the best selection and prices.

May I suggest seed beads like:  http://www.artbeads.com/tbhx8-31.html with a few Swarovski crystals mixed in. You could put the mixture in a small crystal dish and put the candles on top of it all. (This is similar to what I plan on doing). The light will dance of the swarovski's and seed beads like crazy!

I've seen seed beads that were tear drop shaped to... I couldn't find them right now though

I've seen similar things like the frosted glass things at ikea for cheap, if you're looking specifically for that kind of thing.
