Yes!!! I love stars and want them as my wedding theme, but I'm worried about the decorations looking too high school prom 'night under the stars' -esque.

I think if you do it carefully you can have a non-prom looking theme.  choose what type of star feel you want, country, city.  And work with lighting more then pin-up stars.

I originally read Star Wars (don't know why my brain added the Wars on)  But I thought, rock on.

Me, my honey and our kitty make 3.

There are great star-shaped lanterns available (out of paper or metal and glass). They have an exotic feel, rather than a high schoolish prom look. I can send you some pictures if you like.

I love the idea of a star themed wedding!  I would have done that myself had I not booked a reception  in the morning.

I once saw a reception venue that had tree branches suspended from the ceiling with strings of gold lights (like the christmas tree lights) strung throughout the branches.  It had a beautiful "night sky" look without looking promy.  It was SO elegant.

I know that people have pictures like that floating around, so while I hunt for some myself, does anyone have a picture of what I am talking about?

Also, and this is kinda far out but it just came to me, putting something with constellations would be cool I think.  Like using a constellation map as a seating map or naming each table after a famous star (with the head table being the sun :-) .)   That may be not what you had in mind but it crossed my mind.

Good luck!

Moderation would be the key. I'm thinking stars on the invites, some white xmas lights hanging around, stars incorporated into the favors some how, and for centerpieces having plain or star shaped votives sitting on top of mirrors with star shaped confetti strewn around.
