Fall - Teal and Orange
Posted: Feb 5, 2008 2:28 PM

My FH and I are getting married in September of 2009.  We want to have teal as our main color (bm's dresses, etc...).  We've also agreed we'd like our accent color to be a fall colored orange (not a straight up halloween orange), but something soft.. maybe a peachy colored orange or a more reddish/burnt orange tinted color.

I'm not finding this to be a common scheme while looking through photos and ideas so I've had a hard time envisioning everything.  Has anyone else had experience with this color scheme?  Maybe photos of ideas with this color scheme?

For reception decor I was thinking of doing white floor length table clothes with a satiny teal overlay and peachy orange and other fallish colored flowers for the center pieces.

I was also thinking for the BM's dresses I'd like them to wear teal and maybe a peachy orange sash...

What do you all think?

honestly my first thought was miami dophins - but I think you can definitely make this work as a beautiful scheme.  It's fun because it's unique!

here's a flower pic

Item # RC65 - Turquoise square vase with orange large and small roses.

lazaro bridal - i think this color is slate but it's sort of teal to me

aqua and red... but it's sort of the same vibe

martha did a big thing on aqua and red

I think this color combo is very unique and you can definitely pull it off.  Here's a pic of someone who did the inverse...she did her main color as orange and then did teal and purple accents.  I know it's not a wedding pic, but it'll give you the general idea:

Thanks, that is kind of the idea I'm going for, i don't want it to be straight up pumpkin orange for the fact that I don't want it to look like sports colors.  That is why I want to go with a sort of satiny teal and a different shades of lighter and darker oranges.

I was thinking of doing the tinted blue vases as well, but I'm not sure if that would be too much.  i was thinking clear vases with a satin teal ribbon tied around them.

I just wish I could find more pictures of this color scheme.

yeah I like the dark teal better and I think the vases will look better in clear. Especially with teal overlays on the table.

Maybe an accent like lime green or even a little purple will help break up the color scheme so as to be less like the sports colors and give a little extra pop too! Or even cranberry and a little more of the fall colors

flowers for receptions and events

I will definitely keep an eye out for more pics that might help!

Thank you!! I really appreciate it.  I was thinking of adding in maybe some white roses or some darker fall shades in with the flowers to change it up, I will definitely keep that idea in mind.

These are basically the same colors as I am doing for my wedding in July in Hawaii.  We are doing what's called a pool color and coral.  So the flower situation has been a little tough and we are still working on the details.  I think I am going to go with some sort of light orange and white flowers for my bouquet.  For the girls we are going to do all orange bouquets.  We have already done the invitations and they look gorgeous and extremely different.

This might sound crazy, but go to Home Depot. No, really: there are a lot of similarities between interior decoration and wedding styling. If you go to any of the stores that sell paint (Sherwin Williams, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc.), you can find all kinds of brochures with recommendations for different decorative color schemes, and I KNOW I've seen yours there before. Most importantly, these brochures always have recommended PROPORTIONS of these colors..... so that you don't have too much of one color, or equal amounts of two colors where one should really be playing the accent. Grab some color swatches, then look for wedding elements to match! Love your idea, and good luck!

PS. I know the sash-thing with BM dresses is really big right now, and it often looks fabulous, but don't get pulled into thinking it's the best way to pull your colors together..... I actually think giving your girls a peachy-orange bouquet would look better than an orange sash.

Woman to my man. Slave to my budget.
