We are having a "duck hunting" theme wedding. Does anyone have any reception decorating idea's? We are having duck decoy candle holders as centerpieces with shadow grass fabric under them, but we need more decorating ideas. ANY IDEAS OUT THERE?

duck hunting theme thats interesting. I'm not a hunter but I'll try to give ideas ok for ideas

Well if your into hunting then maybe you own a golden retriever that u love? I have one if u do I'd def fit him/ her into the wedding ... when u say duck hunting i a golden retriever

are your colors hunter green w/ something?

camoflage fabrics would give to the vibe...

I'm not exactally sure what u would do....is this your fiance's idea??? or do u hunt

favors could be those duck calling whistlesSmile

could u have the reception near a pond w/ actual ducks..

A camoflaged iced cake would be cool w/ a golden retriever topper.....maybe have cool designed leaf centerpieces w/ branches

I hope I was helpful but tahts all i've got

ducky~ my wedding is not going to be duck hunting themed but I do plan to incorporate it into the wedding for my fh. Here are some plans of mine (alot of which I got from other girls on this board).

groom's cake:

garter:
go to ebay and enter in "duck hunting camo garter set"
or go to : http://www.gartersbygingersnap.com

FH wanted to give out duck calls for favors but I 86ed that (I think the kids would be blowing them all night and drive me freakin nuts)
Also I originally thought about useing cattails as the greenery in my centerpieces (the are actually pretty- I haven't completely ruled this idea out just yet)

fh also wanted us to let his guys change into camo vests for the reception after pics (I'm fine with that)

Hope this helps, I just wanted to do a little bit of the hunting in the wedding but if I think of anything else, I will post. Best of luck!

ducky...im not sure on the decorations but for the grooms cake we went to Cabelas and bought this action figure called Hunter Dan Duch Hunter it has Hunter Dan (a little smaller than a barbie) decoys, duck call, decoy bag and a gun. They also have "Hank" the black lab with a mallard in his mouth. we had been searching for months for stuff small enough to put on the cake and it was perfect. i will talk to FH and get some more ideas that he had and let you know

Just wanted to add that the site Otis listed also has a duck groom's cake http://www.cakesbymomandme.com/GroomsDuck.html

How about getting some duck feathers from a craft store (if you use real ones fresh off a duck, you're going to have to get rid of the mites first by microwaving them) and using a gold pen to write names on the feathers for placecards?

Use camo netting (or camo colored tulle) to make a drape from the ceiling behind your sweetheart table or the cake table?

Use EMPTY shotgun shells as part of your favors - maybe fill with a duck shaped lollipop or something along those lines?

I don't know much about ducks or hunting in general - fishing is my man's passion LOL Good luck!
