Just checking to see how everyone's planning is going!  I'm down to needing a florest, photographer, and seamstress.  I found a wonderful father/daughter harp and bagpipe players this weekend.  If anyone needs unbelievably reasonable harp and celtic music in the DC area, let me know.

Hey fellow 7/07 brides! My FH and I wanted a July wedding and then My FH picked out 7/7/07 which we thought was awesome. Unfortunately, that date was way booked everywhere. We even had to change it to a Friday so our date is 7/27/2007. I'm so excited because we are getting married in Lake Geneva which is an awesome summer town with so much to do! Okay, this is totally lame I know but I realized the other day that we will both be 27 at that time. Our ages only overlap for a couple of months each year because I'm 8mo older. No biggie, he just loves to call me Mrs. Robinson. You gotta love 'em right! We are so far behind the rest of you in all of our planning. It makes me nervous. We only see each other for about 5 hrs a week even though we live together. We work opposite shifts so we only get random days off together and it's usually only for a couple of hours. How soon is everyone else getting their dresses and bm dresses?

Soon to be Lola Luce!

We are getting married 7/28/07- I really wanted that 7/7/07 date too but my FH wouldnt go for it. I think its cool.We got engaged in May 06 (we have been together for 5 1/2 yrs) so I am sooo excited to be planning my wedding, FINALLY! ( I am 37 and this is my first marriage) Anyway- my FH thinks I am obsessed with the wedding and doesnt think we need to be doing stuff so soon but I just want to get stuff done and not wait till the last minute. FH wants to have a say in EVERYTHING but doesnt want to do the planning. What do ya do??? So i pretty much figure out what I want and then tell him. Thats how he was when we bought our house too. You go find a house and I will approve it. It kind of sucks but I love to shop so the whole wedding planning fits into my favorite hobby of shopping. LOL

We live in S. California so we booked a Yacht that cruises Newport Beach harbor during the ceremony and reception. This is basically how we had to decide on a date. Whatever was available. So we have booked the yacht, booked the hotel near the yacht and sent out SAVE THE DATE ecards.

I ordered my dress last weekend and will be shopping with my BMs this Sunday for their dresses. We are going with RED and BLACK for our colors. I know its not summer colors but my FH wouldnt let me go with pink or purple(my 1st choices) so I compromised for the Red. (FH jsut had to have black as a color)It is actually very pretty and I am going to get red dresses with a black sash for the BMs (i hope) And I want a red rose bouquet. My dress is all white and I think the red will look stunning.  Now that the dress shopping is done (thank god- it was very stressful), My next project is the florist and photographer. My first pick for photographer was already booked. I got to get on this now before everyone else gets booked.   We are going this week to a SANDALS night at a travel agency to get some ideas for a honeymoon. Anyone picked their honeymoon spot yet?

We discussed music the other day and have some of our songs picked. The yacht does the DJ and cake so thats 2 less vendors I have to worry about.

I cant believe that I have been engaged for 4 mos already. Time is flying and I only have 10 mos left till the wedding. Seems so long but I know it will be here quicker than I can imagine.

I like the green dress and white sash idea for your BM's. I think that will look awesome. Post some pictures of some of your ideas.

My sis is getting married probably in January and she is thinking of going with the Champagne and Brown colors. I have seen it in BM dresses and it is beautiful.

Hey- does anyone know how to get his darn ticker to work?. I cant get it to show the ticker properly.

We're getting married 7/28/07 as well.  I can't believe it's almost 10 months away.  I can't wait.  We still have to book the photographer and the officiant, but we have the church, the reception hall, the dj, and the florist booked.  I think I might be doing some things backwards but at least it's getting there.

SoCalBride - this is really weird but we got engaged in May of '06 and our colors for the wedding are red, black, and white as well.  My FH and I compromised about our colors.  I wanted black bridesmaid dresses and he wanted red so we're going to do black dresses and red scarves for the bridesmaids.  I'm going to carry red roses and I'm thinking about having the bridesmaids carry white carnations with red tips.

congrats on all your planning!  Colors were one of the hardest things for me to decide on.  I chose tealness (dark) from Alfred angelo with accents of ivory and gold.  To go along with your blue/teal color what about minty green color?  I think that would be cute!

Hey GS Bride- That is funny!  We did the BM dresses this last weekend. I went with Red. I wanted to try to tie in the black but none of the dresses we liked gave us that choice. I am now looking at getting th florist and need to decide on BM's bouquets. I know red would be too much so your white flowers with red tips is a good idea. How are you doing your tables? Fh wants black tablecloths. So I thought I would do red flowers mixed with something else and have red rose petals on the table with votive candles. Any other ideas? also- what color dresses are you going to have your mother and FMIL wear. My mom is definitly wanting red so Im not sure if its ok for FMIL towear red too? Black seems so not a mother color.  I also have a biological mother- (im adpoted) . So many decisions. Any suggestions would be awesome.

Hey SoCalBride - I'm still not sure what I'm going to do about the tables.  The funny thing is is that I just had another meeting with my reception hall today and we talked a little bit about that.  I think I'm going to go with white table clothes and alternate red and black napkins at each table setting, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do with the centerpieces.  I like your rose petal and votive idea.  To me, that's very romantic.  I think it would be really cool to have floating rose votive candles in a fishbowl type vase with rose petals around it.  Unfortunately, where I'm having my reception the county does not allow open flames so the closest I would get to do something like that would be self snuffing candles.  I also have thought about using marbles at the bottom of the fish bowl vase and color the water.  My sister did a cool thing for her centerpieces at her wedding.  She ended up planting a bunch of pansies in pots and grew them herself.  Very simple though.  It looked really cool, but she told me the headache of worrying about whether or not they would survive was enough.

I haven't even thought about what I want my mom to wear.  I'm sure it would be okay for your FMIL to wear red too, but I don't think black would be bad either.  My FH's nephew got married this summer and his step-mom wore black.  Actually, she wore a pants suit.  I'm not too worried about what my FMIL is going to wear because my FH is not close to her at all.  I've only met her once (and we have been together for 2 /12 years).  My FH Is a lot closer to his step-mom.  It's kind of a weird situation, so that's probably why I haven't really thought about it.  Maybe you could have your mom in an off-white outfit.  I know they say that people shouldn't wear white to a wedding so off-white might be too close to white, I don't know the exact etiquette on that.  I hope some of this helps.

I hate having a big family right now. I have a mom a stepmom and my grama who raised me and they all want to be involved. Im really close to my step mom and my gramma. Im not as close to my mom but she is my mom, I cant just cut her out. Another complecation they live between 700 and 900 miles from where I'm living, and the 2 that live in the same town cant stand each other for very long.  I have no idea what to do with them.

I have 6 brothers and their between ages 16 to 2  and 3 sisters i want all my sisters invoved and my two best friends and then my FH has 4 nieces and nefews he wants involved. And then I have my dad and my grampa who was the one who raised me. That one was easy though since my grampa is a minister im having him marry us and my dad walk me down the aisle.

So what ive came up with is 3 ushers in just white shirts and black slacks. 2 flower girls ones my first cousen thier going to be wearing silver dresses. 2 flower girl escorts in little suits. A ring bearer also in suit, 2 candle lighters one in a blue dress one in black slacks and a white shirt my oldest bro to take care of the book in black slacks and a white shirt, 2 of my sisters as bridesmaids there going to be wearing silver dresses and my 2 best friends as maids of honer wearing blue dresses. And then ive left it up to my FH to pick his best man and groomsmen there all going to be in suits. i know it going to be a huge wedding party but it will work. oh yeah my colors are going to maroon silver and blue.

gsbride- Those are some good ideas. I just was talking to one of my BM's and she said the Mothers dont wear the wedding colors. Not sure about that. I was trying to think back about weddings I've been to and I've seen it both ways. My mom is really excited about the red dress. She is a bit larger woman so she wants to make her own dress. She has already found some material and is waiting for me to see it before she buys it. My FMIL lives in another state and we havent even had any discussions with her about dresses. They were all excited for us to get married(we've been together for 5 1/2 yrs) but now that we've started the planning , they are not trying to get involved. I'm not sure if its because they dont plan on contributing financially or they think its sooo far away,so they dont need to worry about it right now. (thats how my FH thinks). Anyway- I want to meet with florists to get ideas for flowers because I thought of including pink in the flowers and that could be a good color for the mothers. MAYBE!! But that off white might be good for FMIL. Actually- I really like that idea. Thanks!!

We are getting married on a yacht and they have restrictions on favors and stuff. I can have votive candles so I am excited about that. I will have to see. The other thing I am worried about , is the chair covers only come in white and you can do any color ribbon so I guess we will go with white table cloth, with black overlay, white chair covers with red ribbon. I hope I can get enough red to make it not so dark. I think it will be elegant though and thats what fh is looking for. I think will go with the red napkins too but we have to pay extra for that. i guess its worth it. I really want it to look nice but I can just see my budget going through the roof. Im scared when I talk to the florist. I'm sure that will be more than I planned. I have a feeling the kind of centerpieces I want will be expensive. I dont know if you've seen them but I want those real tall, clear, skinny vase and then the flowers are real big on top. it is high so they dont interfere with people conversing at the tables.  Not sure Yikes. Everything has ended being more than I planned. I have already doubled what I thought we would spend.  Well- I better get off this forum and go to work so I can pay for all this. hehe! keep me updated on your ideas. Love hearing them. I will post my BMs dresses on my album later tonite. Check it out later and tell me what you think.

SoCalBride - You're welcome....for the ideas.  I know how you feel with the budget.  Yesterday, I actually got some good news from my reception hall.  They overcharged me for the room rent and they are going to give me a discount for recommending the place to someone I know.  It's not that much, but it helps.

I also know what you mean about the florist.  I'm having a friend do my flowers so I'm hoping she's not going to charge me too much.  I haven't talked to her lately about what I'm thinking about doing so she might change my mind.  I'm not at all set on the carnations, but I like the idea because they last and they are probably a little cheaper than other flowers.

I'm excited to see you're BM dresses.  Let me know when you get them posted.  I still have to do all that and I can't wait.  My only problem is that one of my BMs lives out in Philly and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that.  I know bridal shops will work with you on that, but I'm really thinking about just having my BMs go to a department store to get their dresses.  I guess I'm just going to have to go shopping to figure all that out.

Hi everyone, I haven't been doing too much planning lately, but I did order my dress this past Saturday. What do you guys think? I don't like the way it looks on the model but it looked pretty on me, or at least that is my opinion. Here are the pictures:

Daisha- The dress is beautiful. I bet it is gorgeous on you.Who is the designer? My dress has a lot of similarites. I love it!

I too have calmed down on my planning and I have been concentrating on work for now. Its hard because the planning seems to consume your life. Now that I havent been working on it so much I feel less stressed. My FH is happier too. I noticed that we were bickering a lot when I was consuming myself with the wedding and its better now that I've focused back on normal life. (For now at least. ) Once Feb or March comes around, it will be back in full swing again. I think I got some relief when I got my dress ordered and my BM's dresses. I've met with my florist and the only major big thing that I feel like I need to take care of now is picking a photographer.  How is everyone else doing?
