Is it appropriate to register?
Posted: Apr 12, 2005 8:41 PM

Hello all, I was wondering whether or not it would be appropriate to register in my situation. I have actually been married for 4 1/2 years, but my husband and I basically eloped...ceremony at the courthouse with a city official, and the only person present besides bride and groom was his best friend (no reception). We are planning a renewal of vows for next spring. It will be the "Big Shindig" wedding/renewal, for all of our close friends and family to attend.

I really don't know if it would be bad taste to register this time. Four family members sent us congratulatory gifts on the date of our actual wedding, and we had not registered for, or received, any other gifts from friends or family at the time. Should I make a note to those people that gifts are not required? We have things like silverware, kitchen items, dishes, etc. that we have accumulated throughout the past few years. I don't want to be greedy!

Thanks for all of your help. =)
