Ideas for Save the Date cards/ Announcements

Hi,

My FI and I don't live in the town we're having the wedding in (my parents hometown), so most of our guests are going to be coming from out of town, and thus the reason for the Save-the-date/Announcement cards.
We are having a graphic designer(friend of FI) create them, and I am looking for some original ideas...something that will truly make them remember.
So far we have come up with ...
Post cards with our picture and the wedding date and location on it..or,
Magnets with our picture and the wedding info on them..

any more ideas?? and any ideas on creative wording beyond just saying "Save the date"??
