Engagement ring insurance

Hey everyone,

I just got engaged on Satuday, and first item on my planning list is to get my e-ring insured. I live in an apartment and have renters insurance, but I just called the company and they want an additional $330 per year to add the ring to the policy, which I have been told is crazy from my friends with e-ring insurance. Unfortuntely they all have houses, not apt so it's on their homeowners policies - so they don't have advice for me.

For anyone who has insured their e-ring not through a homeowners policy, where did you insure it? And about how much is the rate (for example: $2.75 insurance premium per $100 ring value)?

I would look into insuring the ring outright. I have friends who got engaged while living in a rental and this is what they did.

You can price the options of insuring it outright on it's own policy (Sorry I don't know how much they spent) vs adding it to the renter's insurance.
