Should I buy my wedding dress from China?

We know that there are wedding gowns sold online for one tenth of what you find in the stores, and what is their quality like and should I buy them directly on line?
The answer is Yes.
The world's 70% wedding dress is made in China, including most famous designers' works.
You're probably wondering,"why are they so expensive in the store and so cheap online!?" The answer is, the on line store provide the factory prices however the real stores add very big profit in it. One of my customer buy 150 wedding dresses from my on line store each month, and he sold them at $1000-2500 each in his road stores, but nobody knows that his cost is $200-$300 only.
The real stores tell you more details on the wedding dress, and you can even try them and check and touch them. With the development of worldwide E-Commerce, international buying has been a major method to get the low cost items, and wedding dress is one of them. There are more and more factory or big Chinese company begin to work on the field of retailing wedding dresses, and they are getting more professional in promoting the business. We do not need to worry the safety of payment, as we can choose PayPal method; we do not need to worry about the quality, as we can choose authoritative wedding dresses websites like "odgate.com", also they behave well in showing pictures and descriptions.
Some one may argue that what we get from China is fakes. Fakes is just like cakes, however, there are more and more original designs emerging out of surface. It will be a good choice if you can get good quality dress and what is more you have saved lot of money.

Funny how most of the "success" stories of happy "brides" who bought dresses from such sites are broken english... hmmm... could it be poeple who actually work for those sites posing as brides to promote their own website? ...naawwww, couldn't be.

It is TRUE that many big-name designer gowns are made overseas, BUT there is more than one manufacturing facility, and it would be ignorant to believe that the quality levels coming out of each are exactly the same. Aside from the question of manufacturing quality, there is the materials used. There is a big difference between higher quality bridal fabrics and lower-quality bridal fabrics. Of course not all gowns can be made of silk, but even within the realm of polyester special occasion fabrics, there are very high quality ones that almost look like silk, and then it goes on down the line to the lowest quality synthetic satin, the type of material you might see cheap prom dresses made. Logically the WAY cheaper dresses will be made with fabrics on the lower end of that quality spectrum. It would make no sense to sell a dress for the same amount of money you spent on material, and take it from a seamstress, good quality satins and laces are NOT cheap. So they are not spending much on fabrics at all, and what does that tell you?

Well, to help everyone in their decision making, here are some more "success" stories from ACTUAL people who purchased their wedding gowns online....

Buy the dress from someplace like houseofbrides.com which sells dresses at 50-60% less than retail price at wholesale prices. They purchase the dress made-to-order directly from the designer. So you can get the same dress in the store for much less. Do not purchase from vendors from china on ebay. They basically use a photo of the dress and make a copy that is only 90% accurate. They are also made of very cheap material...I had a zipper break off before I was even able to wear the dress to my wedding. It's basically a bootleg wedding dress

To all the brides out there considering buying a dress from goweddingdress.com:

Please, DO NOT, buy a dress from this website. They have the worst customer service and DO NOT adhere to a very customer unfriendly return policy. Furthermore, their dresses are of incredibly poor quality and are NOT as described on their website. Most importantly, they only accept payment via Western Union or direct bank wire and you CANNOT get your money back. They are deliberately out to scam people. Read below for some more details:

1. Their return policy reads: "We accept returns if the item with obvious quality problems which can be defined as follows: obvious wrong color as customer chose." Despite having sent me my dress in the WRONG COLOR, they refused to accept a return and instead insisted on sending me another poor quality dress. Their stated return policy already is set-up to put their customers at a disadvantage (very few reasons for "acceptable" returns), and they refuse to adhere to it.

2. The dress I received was of TERRIBLE QUALITY. It claimed to be a Stephanie James Couture Audrey dress, but looked nothing like it. Their were several defects, including unraveling material and a hideous polka dot mesh overlay rather than an elegant and delicate swiss dot mesh that is on the original dress. Overall, it looked incredibly cheap, especially the white taffeta, and I can't imagine anyone wanting to wear something like that on their wedding day.

3. The only payments they accept are direct bank wires or a wire via Western Union. I didn't think much of it until they refused my return and started looking into ways to get my money back. It turns out that they quite deliberately chose these 2 forms of payment because they are the only kind that cannot be refunded. There's no buyer protection as you'd find via Paypal or a credit card company. Unless Goweddingdress.com is willing to send your money back, you're out on whatever you paid. As a bride on a budget, this is devastating. I'm struggling to figure out how I'll be able to find a new dress since I've spent half my budget on a dress that I simply cannot wear.

Please, save yourself the time, money, and stress and DO NOT buy from this website! You're likely to be very disappointed and you'll be left without any reasonable options.

If the dress ships from China so it takes a while to arrive in the states (about a month or so). But their manufacturing and fabrics are really excellent.
