Having make-up done professionally or do it yourself?

I just recently got married on July the 7th 2012!!! YAH!!! And I did my own make-up as I really do not like for other people to touch on me and be near my eyes with sharp objects. (And the temp outside was 106 degrees that day so I literally had to do my makeup right before I was to walk down the isle.) So I went and bought my own make-up and I feel that I did it just as well as someone else would have. I also feel that when I have in the past went to have my makeup done with a company they try to push some high priced items on me that work just as well as some of the name brand stuff we find in Target and Walmart (that cost much less.) Most of my family and friends seemed shocked that I would want to do my make up myself. What do you girls think of doing your own make up for the big day?
Also, the makeup I bought was all through Avon and looked amazing! I have since become a sales rep for Avon because I loved all the products. If anyone is interested in this line of beauty products please let me know and I can help you out!!
