What do you think of this cake topper -- too unusual?

I love the casual, natural feel of the birds-nest cake topper on page 4 of this catalog (sorry, I can't seem to figure out how to just attach the image):

But, it seems like one of those things that you either love or hate. I'd love opinions here -- is it too out of the ordinary? Haven't really decided on a theme for the wedding, but it won't be overly formal.

It's okay. I think if done right, you could pull it off. I think it's really more for a table top though. Remember that you'll want to keep your topper at a height that won't be overbearing compared to your cake. The focal point should be the cake:)

It is cute, if you have an outdoorsy/natural themed wedding. Would be very easy to make yourself with basic materials from your craft store. In order to be dynamic it would need to be proportionally fitting with the cake. If the cake itself has a very busy design, it could also dwarf this little nest.

I think it will be a great idea, I like all unusual things and especially for wedding, It's your day and it's not a usual day, so everything must be Unusual :)

Ex: my wedding cake was in RED with sparkles, nothing white or something related :D and we enjoyed it very much

i think it is of vintage style, maybe a combination of the modern and the vintage,i suppose. Otherwise, it is a gorgeous one. Is it for your wedding ceremony?
