He Did It!

Hi, I'm new to the forum! I just got engaged yesterday evening and I am extremely excited. I didn't know when this day would come and I'm glad it finally arrived. He proposed at my favorite restaurant and we made the announcement to his family later that evening. His mom was having a birthday party and he figured since all his family would be there, it would be the best time to tell everyone. But it seems everyone knew he was going to ask except my father and I! I have no idea where to start with the planning. I've never been involved in a wedding, I've just always been a wedding guest. Congrats to everyone else as well!

Thank you very much! I have been overwhelmed with people asking me questions. Within 20 minutes to an hour after getting engaged people were asking when was the date, had I chosen my colors, did I look at wedding dresses! I just want to bask in the glory for a while. Haha.

Wow, congrats!!!

Planning a wedding is a pretty long and tiresome process, so I will give you two advices...

1. As you're going through the process, remember to BREATHE and do cake tastings in between stressful events ;-)

2. Here is a good place for you to get some basic tips on budgeting, invitations, music, and so forth...remember to pace yourself because every "few extra bucks" that you agree to spend to make something better will add up to THOUSANDS in the end. Here is the source...

As I shopped, I was overwhelmed with the prices. My first shopping cheap wedding dresses online experience was wonderful, yet intimidating. It was nothing like the wedding shows I watched every Sunday. I shopped by myself, picked out a few dresses, and then practically ran out of the bridal shop. I couldn't spare $3,000 for the Cheap Bridesmaid Dresses I picked out. Empty handed, I set out on a larger bridal retail chain. The prices were better, but the sales people were like used car salesmen. I was pressured to buy on the spot Lace Wedding Dresses. Thank goodness I didn't.
