Details, Details: Help!

Hey ladies,

My wedding is fast approaching in May and it's time to start working on all the details. And so many details there are.

To give you a little background, we're getting married on May 28. We're having an outdoor wedding (this is the site: http://images.theknot.com/PWPimages/7321124487539980/weddingsite.jpg) with our reception in a barn right behind the site (click here to see a picture, I don't want you to get the wrong idea! http://images.theknot.com/PWPimages/7321124487539980/weddingsite4.jpg).

So, everything about our wedding is very natural and playing up the natural elements around us: think wheat grass, lots of flowers, water, light, wood, etc...sort of rustic and natural. Our main color is green, and the accents are yellow and raspberry.

That said, I don't want to do traditional glass centerpieces - I want mason jars, lanterns, wood trays, bark...basically anything but a glass vase.

We're also using chalkboards for things - signage for the buffet, signage for the bar, and possibly, as the table numbers (so smaller version).

Also looking for affordable and various sizes of Chinese lanterns, sheppard's hooks and barrels.

I know that's a lot of stuff -- which is why I need help!
If anyone has any good pointers on where I can find any of the above items, I would be so grateful!

Last thing: Music. I'm looking for unique music to play during the processional. I'll have a guitarist and vocalist, possibly a keyboard. We will also be able to play music through speakers, too.

Thank you so much!

With theknot.com, the pics from your venues, and all of these things that you want, it doesn't sound like you're in need of money. Why not just get a personal shopper for a couple of days? The savings they get you as well as the knowledge they already have from past customers, I hear, often make up for the money you spend for their time.

The posters here are great for giving support and ideas, but usually they don't put in so MUCH work for one person. You sound like you know what you want and have the money to get it, so a personal shopper may be a great choice for you.

Don't take offense if I'm wrong. There are always a bunch of sites out there with brides selling what they used to others for a reduced price, and don't discount craigslist!

Craigslist is also good.

For your chalkboards - you can buy chalkboard paint from the hardware store and paint anything you like with it for the signs, old plates, plywood, those thin sheets of fibreboard that have one coated side...

Dear RZ,

I am not a DIY-er, so can't be much help on sources, but I have to say your wedding sounds like a real blast! I wish I could be there.
