A polite way to say No Gifts Money only

This is both our second marriage and we have already combined our household. Is there a tactful way to request no gifts but if you would like to give money? We keep joking and say that we are going to tell people we are registered at BevMo! and Bank of America!!!

Oh, how I wish there was! This question comes up a lot, and the answer is always the same -- nope, there's no real way other than to not register at all, and just spread the word that you have everything you need. In your situation, being older and on your second marriage, if I were a guest, I wouldn't expect a registry at all. I'd probably try and get creative, (like food or wine), or I'd give $$ that I'd want you to spend on a honeymoon.

Wish I had a different answer! Believe me, it comes up a lot.

There is no polite way! Just don't make a registery and I think most people will understand.

disregard everything Kelliflowers wrote.....especially the invitation one....DO NOT WRITE CASH ON THE INVITE......

There is no polite way to ask for cash only.....the only thing you can do is not register....other than that I will tell you the same thing I tell my preschoolers "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit"

PP's are right, with a slight exception. You can spread the word to your family and bridal party that IF people should ask what you want, they can be told that you prefer cash. And IF anyone asks you, you can imply (tactfully, as in, "Oh, we really have everything we need already") that you prefer cash. Otherwise, the policy is "Don'task; don't tell."

We weren't looking for stuff or gifts, so we didn't register.

Most people gave us a card and money.

Must be a correlation, no? ;)
