Hawaiian Wedding 9-11-09 PICS!

My ceremony (location, minister, fees, flowers, photography for two hours, and cake) all added up to only $900!!! So for those of you that don't think you can do a destination wedding, research Hawaii! We saved sooo much money. And look at the results!

paralegal05 - It really was surprising, although the airfare and accomodations obviously play a part, but I still think we saved about $7,000. Then our group had a fondue dinner afterwards, and we were already there for our honeymoon. It turned out really great.

Soontobe - Oh my gosh, how exciting! You will not regret it at all, it is totally the way to go!!! Is there a company you are planning through, and do you know where your location is?

Happy Thanksgiving! Yes, we're getting married at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort. We don't have a company that we're planning though, just the wedding coordinator at the resort. We also hired a wedding coordinator here at home that specializes in destination weddings. So I think we got everything covered... hopefully :)

You're absolutely right though, we are saving so much money by having it there. Of course, we don't have our final bill yet but we're definitely getting more bang for our buck. Like everyone, we have a wedding budget but with having a DW, we get to have way more extras with fewer people. Where as here at home that budget would be stretched thin.

Exactly. I'm pretty sure the resort you're talking about used to be the Maui Prince - which is where we stayed! SO beautiful, peacful and quiet. Beautiful beaches too. The day we left to come back home it switched hands and they were scraping the name off the building.

MissAyla, did you use a wedding coordinator in Hawaii to help plan? Or did you research a photographer, florist, bakery, minister, etc. and work with these people on an individual basis?
I definitely want a beach wedding but just assumed that Hawaii would be out of the question because it's so expensive. I like the idea of having our guests there with us for the ceremony and part of the honeymoon.

We used Precious Maui Weddings (www.preciousmauiweddings.com) which I would highly recommend. Dana is who we worked with and she is awesome. We mainly communicated through emails, which made it very simple.

This was our package deal:
Pikake
Licensed Minister
Romantic Beach Setting
2 Exquisite Wedding Leis
Wedding Certificate
Hand Tied Bridal Bouquet
Professional Photography - 36-4x6 prints (digital format)* and up to 2 hours of service
Includes 2 Complimentary 8x10's
Informal Presentation Album
Coordination/Marriage License Appointment
Wedding Cake - 6" Tier
Alcohol Free Champagne
2 Champagne flutes provided
Table Setting
On-site Coordinator
*Please inquire about negatives
$895 plus tax

We did add on a couple of things, boutonnieres for father of the bride and groom and a corsage for my mom, and we added on a Limo. When I look back on it we could have easily went without the Limo and saved that cash for something else...But this was a one time thing I guess.
