Mandalay Bay Wedding......Reception?
Posted: Jun 30, 2009 11:51 AM

Hello All,

Im getting married at the Mandalay Bay next September and I'm trying to determine my reception venue. I wanted to keep everything at MB, but was wondering if anyone has used Rum Jungle for their reception? Or ANY of MB restaurants? I also thought about their buffet (still $24pp), but thought it might be kinda tacky.

Any thoughts or shared experience would be great! Thanks! =)

My first question is, have you been to Rum Jungle or any of the other places in the MB? As a Las Vegas local I know the MB very well. My ex in V.P. of Marketing there. In my opinion, the Rum Jungle is pretty at night but with the lights on it is nasty. But that is my opinion, I live here so anything to night clubish is a turn off for me. But if that is what you are looking for, then go for it. I would say that the four seasons is the most beautiful place to have a wedding and it is connected to Mandela Bay. It is the non-gaming part of the hotel. You can also have you reception out by the pool and in September the weather is still warm. I would also suggest having the Gospel Brunch the next day at the House of Blues, it is great...

I was having the same problem! I am getting married at Mandalay Bay in November, and really struggled with finding an affordable but nice option. RumJungle was too pricey for our 100 guests.

I ended up finding an awesome deal at Texas Station for a 6 hour reception/buffet/linens/cake, etc package for $27.50 per person. We are going to have to pay for transporation to get all the guests there, but since the price is so cheap, it is do-able.

Good luck!

Wow that IS a really good price...our guest list is only about 45 so I wasn't sure if I should do something of the traditional reception sort. Also we are having an early wedding (12pm) so Im thinking somewhere along the lines of brunch? Oh by the way, I checked out Four Seasons (Thanks again!) They sent me some reasonable prices and I think Im going to check them out when im in town next month. =)

No problem, hey if any of you girls need a heads up on a venue in Vegas, let me know. Since I too am getting married here and live here, I may have already looked into it. If I have any info I will be happy to fill you in. Also, a lot of casinos will provide shuttle service/ limo service to any guest.

And the Four Seasons is beautiful. Another one is the Ritz Carlton at Lake Las Vegas. Look it up online. The place is incredable. It also has a casino attached to it with cheaper rooms. So if you want to do your wedding at the Ritz and have your guests stay at the other hotels there, it would be less money and beautiful...

My best friend was married at MB in December 2005 and I was her MOH. She had the ceremony in one of the desginated chapels at MB and then had the reception at Stripsteak in the hotel. I believe the entire wedding package came together, although I dont know all of the details except that I was there. It was actually really nice and quaint and the minister was very lovely, he definatley put in a good effort to make sure everyone realized the seriousness of marriage despite the vegas reputation. I dont think any of us were expecting that but it was very sincere. I think her biggest compliant was with the photographer. They took a ton of images and made them black and white and edited in red hues for the flowers, ect. I think she would have rather had some candid shots, or something more natural. Perhaps you could find your own camera person or give them more direction upfront to avoid this. Dinner was amazing, if its within your budget I highly recommend that steakhouse.

I am getting married at Mandalay in just under a month (Oct 18) and we decided to do our reception at the buffett. One reason is everything else is super expensive, and the other is due to a few vegans at the wedding we didn't have to worry about trying to accomodate the strict diet standards and having someone screw up thats a lot to worry about! But the best part about it is that it gives everyone a Vegas experiance, which is kinda the whole idea about getting married in Vegas with out the drive through chapel. I also read a review that it is a wonderful buffet and that they are super accomadating, which is such a relief. But most of our guests are staying at other hotels other than MB and we didn't want to have our guests worry about getting from their hotel to MB and then trying to get to another hotel for dinner. One spot is plenty! Hope you are able to make a decision...its so tough especially when its a destination wedding

****UPDATE**** and heads up for anyone interested =)

Ok, SO we went to Vegas in Aug and made it as far as Rum Jungle and the Buffet.

For me personally, I actually LOVED Rum Jungle. Im kind of a party gal and Im having a some what of a tropical theme, so I think it would work. I have been talking with Gracious who is the event coordinator (wonderful lady!) and she is very accomodating and willing to work with your ideas and meet somewhere in the middle!

The Buffet is obviously more economical and variety for everyone. They also have separate dining areas in the back corner with large windows over-looking what I think was beach area?? It was dark out, but Im sure during the day it prob has a great view. My only reservation when comparing the Buffet to the Rum Jungle was that it would serve only as a dining reception. I liked that Rum Jungle had a dance floor and the ability to use the Ipod/Sound System. I am having a lunch reception so for the most part the place will be ours with exception of a few people at the bar maybe.

Unfortunately, I did not make it to the Four Seasons, so I don't have much on that (sorry). I was only there for three days and got wrapped up picking out a dress and taking my fiance to Red Rock =) I'll be back soon to pick up my dress and meet with the wedding coordinator at THE Chapel. I'll be happy to report soon after!

Happy Planning!!!!

hi ladies...

thanks for the post on mandalay bay..i was wondering if you guys choose to do the package deals with the weddings? I was looking at the ultimate mix package which includes a 2 hour reception at the mix ultra lounge. Have any of you guys seen or been to this lounge? the pictures look pretty nice. I was just wondering your thoughts on these wedding packages. Any feedback would be great!

Thanks

Hi everyone,

I will be getting married on 10-14-10 at the Mandalay Bay. I am super excited. I ended up choosing the Valley of the Falls with the Platinum Falls package. I ended up choosing that package because it had the best photo package for me. I met with my coordinator a few weeks back and did my site tour and picked out my florals.

I have a headcount of about 45 ppl. I struggled trying to find the best location for a dinner reception. I was down to 3 choices, RM Seafood, Charlie Palmers' Steakhouse at the Four Seasons and Aureole. RM Seafood was okay but I wasn't too excited about the menu, Charlie Palmers was beautiful, its connected to the Mandalay however the restaurant was a little dark for me and it was hard to find. Ultimately I chose Aureole.

The Ultimate Mix package looks great but it depends if that is what you are looking for. I was considering the Ultimate Mix but with my parents and a few Uncles and Aunts coming, I opted for a elegant sit down dinner instead, then I was going to party with friends at the Mix and at another club after.

I found that it is really hard to make decisions based off of what you see online. Once you check out the restaurants you will know when you found the right one :) Edited by: chelle78 on Mar 30, 2010 1:10 AM
