Hello, anybody have an idea for me?
Posted: Dec 7, 2007 12:21 AM

I am having a Renaissance wedding and cannot decide what to do with my hair I am in a tube dress that is renaissance looking without the sleeves and need ideas on hairstyles. My hair will be dyed blonde or brown with highlights and probably down but i want to know of updos as well. Does anyone have a good idea?

Hmm, good question!  I once did Renaissance costume research for a college madrigal group, and as I recall, ladies always wore some kind of headdress -- in your case, a bridal veil of some sort, possibly with a little "Juliet cap" type of hat as a base.  To the extent that their hair was showing, it was pulled back and usually braided up elaborately.  Having it pulled back from your face and flowing loose down your back might also be within the scope of authenticity, especially if your hair is very long.

Of course, you don't have to follow these ideas if you prefer wearing your hair some other way -- the historical authenticity police are unlikely to patrol your wedding!

Yes, I doubt they will patrol lol. But my
hair is only shoulder length or a little bit past that.
I was wondering if I should just leave my hair down with
my tiara and veil and add volumizing mousse or something to it.
I have layered thin hair (not too thin but I might get extensions).
I don't know if that is the way to go because I have a strapless
dress. I loved your idea though I might have to see into that.
My dress was from davids bridal...i think style #E8809 just in
case you want a look-see at it.

Hey Renaissance weddings are very interesting. The dresses for the brides and the brides mates are so beautiful. I think your hair style should be like keeping the hair open or you can tied a preety hair and do culs on the ends. It would look lovely.

k... Just a note to you newbie peeps. When someone is looking for specific ideas to help their wedding, it is a REALLY good idea to check both the date of their post and the posted date of their wedding. I highly doubt that this person who posted her request in 2007 STILL needs help on her Ren Wedding hairstyle.

I wasn't referring to you, so if you thought I was, sorry! Referring to the person with only 2 posts...usually a giveaway of vendors...
