What's a wedding without a disaster?
Posted: Sep 9, 2009 1:07 AM

Yesterday, I got an e-mail from my food person. The stove at the club
at which we are having our reception just broke, irretrievably. The
club will try to replace it, but that may not happen before our
reception.

Now, the one thing that NotFroofy said early on that she wanted to
serve at our reception is pigs in blankets. And while most of the food
at our reception can either be served cold or heated up with a
microwave, a crock pot, or a warming tray, the one thing that can't
is... pigs in blankets.

I have now ordered a Hamilton Beach countertop convection oven from Amazon. There will be pigs in blankets at this reception, if it's the last thing I do!

I have had about a thousand things go wrong planning this wedding... I have heard that it makes for a perfect wedding day and I sure hope so!

As we grow older, as we continue to change with age, there is one thing that will never change about me, I will keep falling in love with you all over again every single day

Dear 2d,

My MIL flew to my hometown the day before her son's (and my) wedding. She had never been on an airplane before in her life.

They lost her luggage. The bag with her MOG dress, shoes, everything.

We managed to get it back just hours before the wedding, thanks to some quick thinking on the part of my father. He called the connecting airport baggage claim area, described the missing suitcase to the person on the phone, and they found it. All tags had been torn off.

Lesson: Put ID on the inside of your bag. A piece of paper laid on top of everything else will be fine.

I can't believe some of the things that happen at weddings or at least before them. Everything seemed to be going fine at mine, until we got to the reception. We had some trouble with the florist earlier that morning, but had gotten everything worked out. (Sent her assistant without the bouquets and the assistant did not know how to put the flowers on the pews.. totally clueless). Only to get to the reception and not see any of the flowers on the head table or petals on the tables that I had requested. I also did not have a toss bouquet! My MOH took some flowers from the pews that we had brought with us and quickly made a bouquet! Only come to find out that the assistant put the flowers in the wrong room and the mangement at the country club had no clue! However, I could not be that mad as that was the only thing that went wrong, which considering everything else that could have happened, that was not bad!

Would you be able to see if another place can dye the shoes? If that's not possible, I would demand a refund/exchange for another pair of shoes that are the same height that are either dyable, or in a color that will go with the dress. I hope things turn out better for you!
