Haha, how funny.. My Fiance and I are having an Anastasia, that movie from Don Bluth, my absolute fav princess, themed wedding. I'm not sure which gown to use just yet, but I think I could make a white one with maybe simularities to her three gowns. IDK, I actually met my guy while at a role playing convention. I'm glad us geeks can find happiness in our own.. But we're going to have people dress up as either just royalty or their favorite movie couples.

I am vertually the last of all of my friends to get married and I have noticed that although some have been very "themey" others have a underlying theme that is not nearly as noticable. For example - a fall wedding has brown or natural colored dress and decor to match. Color can most defenetially be a theme....and really a theme can be whatever you want it to be. I am leaning towards a more traditional wedding...I know...not really exciting - but that has always been the theme I have wanted.

We are getting married in Port Aransas with a large reception the following Saturday and we have themes for both of them. The beach wedding will have a beach theme without getting too tacky. Our colors will be aqua, orange and yellow, we will incoprorate starfish in the invitations and decorations as well as tropical flowers for the decorations. The bridesmaids dresses will be canary yellow, the same dress they will wear for the reception.

For the reception, our colors are forest green, tropical orange and yellow but we will incorporate mint leaves and flavoring in with many of the details.

  • We are going to have 3 cakes. I want my favorite cake which is white chocolate raspberry and he have his cake which will be pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting. The third cake was decided on due to a dream I had (I was eating chocolate cake with mint icing at my wedding in my dream) and a discussion on buttercream we had a few years ago (we chose mint buttercream), plus, he's allergic to chocolate so we can't exactly cut into the brides cake. Since he is allergic to chocolate, the cakes tiers will alternate between white and chocolate but all of them will have mint icing.
  • For our centerpieces we will have painted terra cotta pots filled with mint plants.
  • Our signature drink will be a mojito
  • Chocolate covered mint leaves to garnish
  • Mint sprigs to put in the beverages as desired
  • Mint lemonade
I am trying to come up with more ideas to incorporate mint into the reception.

We will also have citrine jewels. The significance of this is, we both have November birthdays, we are getting married in November and the center stone in my ring is a citrine (because of the fact that both of our birthdays are in November... it seemed like a great way to personalize my ring).
  • 2 citrine rhinestones on the invitations
  • Citrine jewels sprinkled around the terra cotta pots on the table
I am also trying to find other ways to incorporate citrine into the reception.

Mrs.Pinky, I need your help! My daughter is getting married on the beach at the end of this month. How do you transition from bare feet to reception shoes? My idea was to have some chairs on the boardwalk for people to sit and change and have a basket for them to put their shoes in on the way to the beach. Then have a bucket of hand towels there so they can collect their shoes and wipe their feet when we're done. What did your guests do?

Thank you.

The theme sounds wonderful and that dress is soooo beautiful. Remind your fiance that the beast did turn into a Prince which, of course, you'd focus on.

Hi!! We're having a December 2010 wedding and our theme will be Christmas. It's always been my favorite time of year - I just love the holiday season! I'm thinking of doing a lot of handmade stuff, like making glass ornaments for favors and having some creative relatives who are into stamping help me make invitations. I'm back and forth on colors and whether I want to focus on Christmas or just winter wonderland, as the church and reception venue will already be decorated for Christmas so we'll have that going, too. Anyone have any fabulous winter wedding ideas, I'd love to hear them! All of the themes all o'y'all have going sound marvelous.

I have been considering many themes, but i can't quite find one that fits myself and my fiance at the same time. It's quite the conundrum since we're normally so similar. But his best friend's horrible attitude towards her own wedding really rubbed off on him towards ours. I've been trying to break him out of the negativity since it makes it extremely hard to even consider planning, but he says that unless i find some new themes to go over he's not interested in even hearing the word theme. (Later he explained that part of his negativity was due to his inability to choose a theme from the ones that i had picked because they were all amazing, but only captured one facet of my personality. He wants one that showcases all of our personality into one ceremony)
Right now however, I'm considering back to my vintage themes, especially a ceremony influenced by the Steampunk subculture.

I guess you could say it's themed, but really it's just a wedding that fits who we are. We are having an outside country/western/rustic/casual/relaxed sort of wedding. Lots of cowboy boots, simple decor, and putting our own twist on things to make it a fun and memorable wedding.

I am doing the Vintage Hollywood theme! It took me forever to decide on something and this defintely suited us best. I'm incorporating lots of feathers and jewels into everything. Color scheme is Eggplant, Black, and White with hues for other shades of purple, light pink, light green, and light yellow. I really am trying incorporate as many colors as I can and so far it's coming out great I think! I'd love to see pics of anyone else that's doing this theme!

Everyones ideas are awesome. We are all some creative people. My FH and I are both Italian so a 1920 gangster themed wedding is what fit the picture for us. The guys are wearing zoot suits and spectator shoes, complete with fadora hats. The girls are going with the shorter style dresses, but I can't promise I will get all of them with feathers on their heads and garters on their legs. Our colors are red (bright fire engine red), black and white. I am wearing a traditional dress (nothing short). I am wearing bright red shoes under my dress too. I am going to incorporate feathers into the bouquets. We are no ideas yet on wedding favors. Our centerpieces are easier to show so when I get them together I will send out the picture. Happy planning to all...

We are going to do a gangster/mafia themed wedding. I came up with this idea because my FH wanted to wear a zoot suit. So we are going to do black and white for the colors and the wedding party is going to wear fedora hats.

We're possibly thinking something morrocan or maybe something a little less "theme" specific and more just an overall ambiance since I'm a HUGE fan of the parasols I'm seeing everywhere! Anyone that's interested in something similar should check out the latest post on this blog about where to find any color parasol, paper lantern, candle holder, etc! http://www.diyunveiled.typepad.com It's awesome because you can shop by color scheme if you want or just browse through the hundreds of products they have in the shop featured on this blog so check it out!

Fiance sadly said no to my idea of a dinosaur theme wedding. he said dinosaurs were the theme of his 5th birthday party. humpf!

so i think we're just going with a nature inspired shabby chic rustic modern minimalist approach. yep.
