Do we NEED wedding insurance? Why or why not?
I'm just wondering if its worth forking out some more $$$.
Thanks everyone! :)

Dear SS,

Insurance of any kind is a question of cost vs risk.

You don't NEED insurance if you are willing to lose money if the wedding is cancelled for any reason. Essentially, if you don't buy insurance then you are self-insured.

From what I read about wedding insurance, it covers costs of things you pay for but don't get, like for example if your venue flooded the day before the wedding, you would get your money back. There are different types of wedding insurance policies, I would look into them and see if any of them suit your needs, and figure out if it's better based on your finances and budget to get it or just skip it.

Some wedding insurance policies also cover you for damage caused by your drunk guests. In some cases, it will cover you for a drunk guest who gets into a car accident. You need to take a look at the various policies to compare costs vs. coverage. If you already own a home, then you should check to see what your home owners policy covers for a party like this to avoid duplication of coverages (and costs).
