Colorful wedding dresses
Posted: Dec 12, 2008 5:21 PM

I want something really unique in my wedding dress, specifically, I want it to be hot pink and black. I have my heart set on it. So far, just browsing through different wedding planning websites I don't see anything varying from different shades of white. Does anyone have any suggestions for where I could find something with color to it, preferably pink? I've never had to shop for a wedding dress before so I'm at a loss. I have seventeen months until my wedding, so I have some time.

Thanks!

Instead of just looking at bridal dresses, why don't you try checking out some of the more elaborate prom and bridesmaid dresses? They have some pretty fancy ones out there that look like a wedding gown and you'll have way more colour choices.

RenkVictim - Awesome color choice! I too wanted to get married in a hot pink dress. I originally planned on getting married in my pink prom gown from high school but you know, I didn't weigh 100lbs when I got married so that didn't work. I actually tried on PROM dresses instead of WEDDING dresses. I think that would be YOUR best bet if you want a colorful dress. Also, you could consider having a seamstress MAKE your dress. That's what worked for me. I took an traditional offwhite wedding dress and added a hot pink skirting.

good luck and let us know what you find.

There are some sites that you can get a dress custom made, or custom order a dress with modifications (like adding sleeves, changing neckline, or in a different color). One site that I'm pretty sure you can modify the color of the dress is Julius Bridal: http://www.juliusbridal.com/ . And figure if you found a pink dress, you could easily add black accents like a sash or ribbon, black flowers, etc. Or the other way around, pink sash on black dress. Here's another site: http://www.theperfectdressonline.com/sub.php?CatId=3099&Page=CatOv you can order seperates to put together a bridal look. And here is another site where you can custom color the dress, and make you own combination of bodice and skirt: http://www.whiteangelsbridal.com/content/mix/mix.html . Lastly, here is UK-based site where you can custom order a gown. This one is very unique, high-quality, corseted gowns... gorgeous! - http://www.uptight-clothing.co.uk/indexFrameset.htm .

I also like the idea of checking out high quality prom dresses to find something unique that fits your taste. I would suggest though, that you if you browse prom dresses, to stick to ones that have at least a bit of a train. If you're going non-traditional with the color, you want something about the dress to still say "I'm the bride." (If you're short, u probably have more options, cuz u could just hem the front, creating a train in the back.)

I almost went with a pink dress I dont think its bold enough from what you described but worth it to take a look it was Maggie Sottero the style was called Aseel and another one that I almost got was mostly white though was Vwidon by Carla & Kenneth style # VW1268CC. awesome though, let us know when you decide and make sure you get exactly what you want! you'll know its the one!
