Well ladies I am a little nervous! We picked our date of September 12, 2009.My sister's friend is going to be doing the catering and told my sister about 2 places he thinks are perfect for the wedding. So I saw pictures of one of them and figured that wold be the place. Well yesterday my sister and I drove out to both locations and neither one of them will work. The first one could be really nice, but the grass area where they hold the reception looks like it could fit possibly 20 chairs, but they are on a little hill which I think is a safety hazard. The lady I spoke to told me it could hold 140. There is no way! So then we go to the Yacht club which the caterer also recommended. It was so small. The guy told me it could hold 100 people. It is very beautiful, but too tiny. Oh and I don't even think my dress could fit through the door to get into the bathroom. So now I feel completely screwed. I doubt we will be able to stick with our date. My mom, dad, sister, and I are frantically searching for a new place. My mom is going to  talk to some people that own beach vacation homes to see if we can rent one for a few days. That would be ideal! I just really dont want to push our date back anymore! I originally wanted an April wedding, but due to insufficient funds, we are waiting till Sept.

I was finding the same thing when looking for my reception place. Its not like every place around came up when I did a search. So I put a ad in the vacations rental section and the apt/housing section of Craigslist, stating that I was looking for a place to hold my wedding. said I would be interested in suggestions and places people had. I got alot of responses and that how I found the place we choose. Just a suggestion and good luck!

That is a great idea!!! I looked in that section of craigslist, but all of the places said not to be used for a wedding or large party. I am going to give it a try though! Thanks!

My daughter is 5 and speaking of her I have a question. How do I add her to the wedding without making her a flower girl. I want to to feel like she is apart of the wedding, but she can't stand at the alter for that long. She has brittle bones so it's a lot on her knees to stand for a long time.

You could still have her be the flower girl (or a little bride i've seen those too) and could process in right before you, then you could have a special bench or chair decorated at the front (off to the side a little) and then she could sit down in her special chair during the vows and then come back up for the recessional and for any other things you might want to involve her in during the ceremony.

I've seen new stepparents give their stepchildren a piece of jewelry (normally a necklace or bracelet for a girl and a watch for a boy) or a special gift during the ceremony, so you might be thinking about incorporating her somehow in that way as well.

Necolei Thanks for the suggestion. They only have stuff for Northern Ca unfortunately! I am going to keep looking. Hopefully I will find something soon.

Okay, so I have the day off today and I actually have time to do this. Some of you girls know I am doing a candy buffet. FH and I picked out the different types of candy that we want to use. The candy is all going to be in our wedding colors...black, white, and blue. I was going to post the different candy here to see if you girls thought that it was enough of a selection. If you were at a wedding and the bride and groom had this candy would you think there was enough to choose from? Is there something else you think we should add? I'm just trying to get a feel of whether or not we picked enough of a variety and whether or not people are going to like it. So here they are:

2lbs of black M&Ms

2lbs of white M&Ms

2lbs of blue M&Ms

6lbs of white chocolate covered pretzels

240 tux and gown mints

72 white rock candy lollipops

3lbs of wedding conversation hearts in white

96 white and black mint sticks

5lbs of black and white chocolate jordan almonds

36 black and white lollipops (blackberry flavored)

5lbs of black rock candy

24 blue and white swirl pops (blue raspberry)

5lbs of blue jellybellys

120 blue rock candy pops

Ha, sorry this post is so long. So, what do you girls think, is this enough? There will be about 120 people at our wedding and all of this candy equals 60lbs. So that will be 1/2 lb of candy per guest. I may add more M&Ms. What do you girls think?

I love the candy buffet idea! I would definitely add more M&Ms. Those will probably be the most popular. I also think you should have enough of the lollipops for each guest. I think you were only order 36 of one and 24 of another(or somewhere around there). If not then specify that the lollipops are for children only. And also the candy canes. Make sure you have at least 1 per guest. You don't want anyone to feel they were left out.

I agree that there is plenty of variety there but you need to add more of the really popular things - I think enough lollipops so everyone could have one (so 60 of each flavor) and definitely increase the amounts of M&M's.

What are you providing people to take the candy away with them in? If you give them 1/2 lb containers then people will probably walk away happy with the amount you have (though some will probably not get the type of candy they want because it will be gone).

I am a big numbers person and I don't know if you are having more blue or black or what. But our colors are very simular I am having red black and white. With balck being my accent color (meaning there won't be much just enough to make it clear that it is on of our colors.) If I were you and the blue was red for me I would make sure I have mostly red and white candy and not soo much black. Thats just me though.

However I think that your candy buffet will look amazing, but I do agree on my M&M's

Thanks for the feedback girls! I was wondering about the lollipops. I was figuring that not everyone would want one, but it would make sense to get enough for everyone just in case. I will definitely add more M&Ms. I was trying to keep the cost down as much as possible but, your right, I don't want people to feel left out. All of that candy is already $500...but we can stretch it some more if we have to. I haven't figured out what we are going to use for the take away bags yet. Do you think that 1/2 lb is enough for each person? I don't even know how much one pound of candy is. I read somewhere that it's enough to fit a shoe box? Ha, I feel so lost. Thanks for your help though. :P

Oh, and to answer your question Necolei, our wedding colors are black and white and our accent color is blue. I think that we have enough of each color. I'm just concerned about the amount.

Okay from what I can tell you're going to need 14 containers for the different types of candy, perhaps to cut back on cost you could get rid of a couple of types of candy.

Perhaps if you get rid of the black rock candy since you have the blue and white rock candy pops (perhaps just the white would be sufficient there) then perhaps have the black and white lollipops instead of the blue. I am personally not a big fan of jordan almonds and have never seen anyone actually eat them at any of the weddings I've been to so perhaps those could go. I'm not sure you need the mint sticks & the mints so perhaps just the mints (since you have a lot of other stuff on sticks).

Cutting those would give you 9 types of candy;

3 different color m&m's (white, black & blue)

Chocolate covered pretzels

Tux & Gown Mints

White Rock Candy Lollipops

Conversation Hearts

Black & White lollipops

Jelly Bellys

then just get a TON of those 9 items. Here is an article I read on candy buffets, you may like it. http://www.candyfavorites.com/shop/wedding-candy-buffet-ideas.php
