Best dress style for small busted women??

I would like your thoughts....I am going to start looking at dresses in a couple weeks.  What is the best style for me?  I am 125lbs, small busted (A), but larger hips/legs in proportion to the rest of my body.  I know the mermaid style is out for sure, but should I got strapless, halter, etc.?  What is the difference between A-line, princess, empire and ball gown?

You really have to try on dresses don't count anything out until you have tried it on.  Mermaid dresses were made for women with a little hip action.

With a small bust you could do something daring like a plunging V-neck that women who need support couldn't get away with (or, they'd be showing too much!).  I also really love a tight corseted strapless on a body like yours because I think it plays it up a little more.

In order from simplest to poofiest you have: sheath (no poof what so ever), mermaid (poof at the bottom only), A-Line (some volume, but coming straight from the waist. This is the most universally flattering), Princess, and then ball gown (the most poof ever in the whole world. hehe).

And empire gown is one that has the main seam right under your bust.  You may consider trying on a few of these too!

Best of luck! We want pictures of what you try on!! ;)

Definitely try a lot of dresses on. I have a similar build, and empire waisted ended up looking great on me, as well as the V-neck dresses that others might not have been able to wear, since I am smaller up top. And if you are petite, usually the big ballgown dresses can be over powering.  But really, just try everything on. If you go to different boutiques, there's usually women there who know just what shape will look the best on you. I had something different in mind but ended up picking a slight mermaid gown with an empire waist. Just try everything out.
