FH and I have been considering a cruise for our honeymoon. Have any of you gone on one/are you planning on going on one? Which cruise line did you use?

Hello! :)

My DH and I went on a 4-day cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon. Neither of us had been on one before, and it was amazing.
We sailed with Royal Caribbean, and our ports were Nassau, CocoCay, and Key West. At first 4 days didn't seem like very much, but it turned out to be the perfect length for our first cruise.

I HIGHLY recommend cruising, and Royal Caribbean. The experience was awesome, and the service was no less than excellent. :)

Dear Bride2b,

I have been on exactly one cruise: CruiseWest out of Juneau, Alaska.

We have resisted the idea of cruising for years. I dislike the Party Hearty atmosphere on many large cruise ships, and prefer to visit touristic destinations on my own, not as part of a large crowd.

Then, I heard about CruiseWest. They have small ships. Our ship, the Spirit of Alaska, has a max capacity of 78 passenger. There were 68 on our cruise.

The ship does not have a disco, casino nor a big theater. There's one dining room and a "lounge" where one can sit inside and watch the scenery. Our entertainment consisted of a park ranger coming aboard to talk about the plants and animals we were seeing, and a native cultural interpreter to talk about the native Alaskan culture.

We also got up close and personal with whales, bald eagles and bears.

This is certainly not for everyone. If you are dreaming of fruity drinks with umbrellas while lounging by the pool, then look into one of the other cruise lines.

We had a really great time with CruiseWest and would recommend them. You might want to have a look at their website to see if their kind of cruising suits your needs.

Choosing a cruise is like choosing which store you want to buy clothes from. There are the cheap ones like Wal Mart (eg Carnival), then there are the mid-tier ones like Macy's, Bloomingdales (eg Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Princess). Finally, there are the pricey ones like Nordstroms where everything is first class (eg Crystal, cunard). It all depends on what service/amenities/destination you want. Email me if you want to chat more. I have been on several.

I have been on one cruise before and it was amazing! I went on Princess to the Caribbean for 7 days and loved it!

For my honeymoon we are going on a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise through Royal Caribbean. I am VERY excited about this and love the fact that we get to be somewhere new every day!

I went on a cruise to the Bahamas.  I went to Nassau, Coco Cay and then it ends in Keywest.  I had a lot of fun because a lot of my family was there.  However, i didnt really find much of anything to do in the Bahamas.  We only stayed for a couple of hours and i would much rather go on a cruise where we would actually stay over night rather than just get back on the ship.  However, the cruise experience is so relaxing and the whole time i wished my fiance was with me.  It can be very romantic...just dont go to Nassau.

Beyonce, was your cruise with Royal Caribbean? Because your cruise sounds just like the one we went on for our honeymoon. :)
We did enjoy Nassau, though. We went on the Pirates & Dungeons Tour, which was really fun.

We went on a 9-day cruise back in 2006.  It was with Crown Princess and we traveled to Bermuda, Puerto Rico, St Thomas, and Grand Turk.  It was "okay" but not that great.  I wouldn't do another 9-day cruise, that's for sure.  Plus, I would rather be on a cruise with fewer children.  It was a bitch to even lounge around by or in the pool because of all the screaming kids.  Grand Turk was a dump and we didn't care for Puerto Rico.  St. Thomas and St. John were really nice.  Bermuda was okay but nothing to write home about.

Yes it was Royal Carribean.  I would have loved to go on that tour.  I didnt know about it.  I just chilled on the beach and walked through the little town.  I just wish i could have stayed later to see what the night life was like.  However, i do realize you dont even have to get off the ship to have fun! I mean with the casino and the club it was fun.

"He's teaching her arithmetic, he said it was his mission. He kissed her once then kissed her twice and said, now that's addition. And as he added smack by smack, in silent satisfaction, she sweetly gave the kisses back and said, now that's subtraction. Then he kissed her, she kissed him, without an explanation, and both together smiled and said, That's multiplication. Then dad appeared upon the scene and made a quick decision. He kicked that kid three blocks away and said, that's long division!"Kiss

My parents have used Carnival twice (Bahamas and Mexico) and they loved it!  My MOH also went on a Carnival cruise (Bahamas) for her honeymoon and she loved every minute of it.  They are reasonably priced and certainly don't offer all the ammenities the other cruise lines offer but if price is an issue.... I want to go on a Disney cruise personally (BIG Disney fan) but it's not happening anytime soon....

Oh yeah, another downfall of cruises, or at least the one I was on, is that alcohol is not included.  Like Beyonce said, the casino is fun but that can get expensive!!  I don't normally play slots but just for funzies, I put a $20 in a $1 machine and hit for $1200!  That was cool!!

My DH and I just got back from our honeymoon which was a Carnival Cruise to Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We had a great time! It was relaxing and there was lots of stuff to do. Another poster commented about the kids. I kind of felt the same way, there were so many kids on the ship so by the afternoon the pool was crazy!!! We would go to the pool in the morning and then in the afternoon go to the deck that was just for adults 21 and over. That seemed to work out good for us.

FH and I are going on our honeymoon cruise in May on Carnival to the Western Carribean. We've never been on a cruise and are SO excited! His parents and mine have both been on Carnival and had a great time. We booked with a Carnival agent, they answered SO many questions for us. So far, they're very helpful!

I personally have been on 4 cruises in the past 5 years.  I have sailed twice on carnival, once on royal caribbean and once on princess.  I loved carnival and princess. Royal caribbean was nice but we were on an older ship that has since been retired.  I like the larger ships which most of the new ones are.  I would highly recommend a cruise because there is ALWAYS something to do and you can also find many quiet spots if you just want to be out of your room but still alone.  Any questions let me know.
