flowers in Hair??

So I was getting my hair cut today and started talking to my stylist about my weeding do and he mentioned flowers in my hair.  I thought this was out.  what does everyone else think?

I don't think you should worry about what is "in" and "out" so much as what represents your style?  Flowers can look very elegant and traditional, or they can be whimsical and romantic.

If I was having the ceremony of my dreams (an intimate wedding outdoors in the mountains) I would have had a flower wreath.  With the wedding I am having (formal church affair - still okay, I am marrying FH, the dream of my life), I am using some small jeweled flower pins.

I went to a wedding this weekend and all of the bridesmaids had 2 or 3 white orchids in their hair (I think they were dendrobium orchids) and it looked gorgeous!  The bride didn't have them, but with her hairstyle and veil, there was just nowhere to put them.    After seeing the BM's hair styles, I am definitely considering having flowers in my hair and my BM's hair.

I don't know if flowers are out, but I'm having flowers in my hair for my wedding.  I have a fitted "greek goddess" style dress, and I'm doing an up-do with a few flowers on the side.  I'm doing the flowers in my hair with the greek-looking dress, because that fits my personal style. I agree that you shouldn't worry about what's "in".  It's your wedding, just do what you want!

I did flowers in my hair, in part, to dress it up as I was not wearing a tiara or a veil.  I think what is "out" is having a lot of stuff going on -- keep the overall look with your dress consistent.  I also think that if you are having a veil, flowers as well is a bit much.

If you view the bios on theknot, there are MANY women wearing flowers in their hair so I'm not sure how you got the idea that this is something that's "out".

With all due respect, MrsD, I wore both flowers and a veil and I don't feel like having them both was "a bit much".

I had an outdoor wedding in a sort of woodsy area & didn't want a veil, so I wore baby's breath in my hair. I felt like it went perfectly with the setting/tone of the wedding.

Also, don't know if you've looked at any pics of the Jenna Bush wedding, but I thought the way her hair was done with flowers was very simple & pretty.

thank you all for your input.  You are right i shouldn't worry about what is in or out.  I guess when he said it i flashed back to the past and thought whoa too much.  I am having a viel and tiarra so I am still undecided if I decide on any flowers it will probably be small and simple.  I want my overall look to be classic and romantic.  I hear so many people saying they look at thier wedding pictures and wonder what they were thinking and I don't want to do that.

Okay, now that you say you're wearing a veil and tiara, then yes, I think the flowers would be too much.  If you weren't wearing the tiara then flowers would look nice - and can definitely be classic and romantic.  I wouldn't do all three.

First of all, congratulations on your upcoming nuptials! My wedding was one of the very best times in my life. As a makeup artist and hairstylist, I get to relive my wedding every time I work with a bride and just love getting to go through all the details with my clients! I have had several that have decided to have flowers in their hair and this is what I always recommend: if you want flowers, use silk. No matter what kind of flower you are wearing, most brides worry about 2 things, the flower wilting/falling apart and the flower staining your dress. I'm a fidgeter so I'm always touching my hair, makeup whatever and I'd be the one to get flower on my dress. With silk flowers (that are EXTREMELY realistic looking now) you will be able to keep them forever, use several different types, and even use them in a scrap book down the road. My other recommendation, if you have a tiara/veil AND you are thinking about flowers, then use the veil for the ceremony, and then the flowers for the reception. Most tiaras can be pinned for easy removal and then pin the flowers in place. Your hairstylist can show your maid of honor exactly the best way to do it. Congratulations and remember to breathe!

I don't think Flowers are out for wedding hair style. We still see alot flowers Hair style on every bridal magazines
I like orchids and i think it looks very elegant as well. Don't think about what's in and what's out, the most important thing is what fit you perfectly.

I agree. I knew right away I wanted flowers in my hair. I've had this vision of a low side bun and a few orchids or a rose (I want all my flowers to be roses) pinned to the side. I am still undecided about wearing a veil. I never really wanted one, and am not sure how it will look with flowers and a low bun. But so many brides nowadays are skipping the veil and using tiaras and such, so I say go for it. I definitely would not do all three though.

FLowers in ones' hiar has never been 'out' So long as the flowers stay put, they can be unique, elaborate your hair, create a personal fragrance, and even give you a good sense of calm.

I'm actually planning on the trifecta: Tiara, Floral Wreath, and Veil. (How it is to work is my hair stylist's deal). My bridesmaids will have wreaths instead of bouquets. The wedding is Celtic, and with that theme, I felt it fit. (And yes, when I decided this, I was having neither tiara nor veil...but I can't cut it. It is to be a very delicate wreath, and I think that the veil will look good with it, and the tiara can be made to look a part of it.)
