I have tried that dress on before!  It was in a consignment shop about 4 months ago.  I'm sorry that I can't remember the exact designer.

You know how David's Bridal usually "knocks off" the style of designer gowns?  Well, they did do a version of that dress.  It was Oleg Cassini.  I did find the DB one on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Elegant-embroidered-wedding-dress-w-matching-tiara_W0QQitemZ270236202547QQihZ017QQcategoryZ63851QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I've also seen a couple of Ashley Jordan and Mori Lee dresses done with very similar embroidered work as that one.  Sorry I couldn't help you with a perfect answer.

At least you've seen it!  I'm still really hoping someone will know the designer.  What I love the most about it is that the embroidery is in vivid colors but without being overpowering.  I really hope I find it.

Thanks,

Oh dear....is there no one who recognizes this dress?  I know it's a long shot but it's so rare to find embroidery in these colors and it's what I've wanted for so long.  Can anyone help?  Cry

Lets not all get caught up in our wedding. Remember we should not only be planning for a our wedding but more so we should be planning for  our marriage. More so then fighting over shades of peach, tuxs, cake flavors and only god knows what else. Because the next morning it is over, guests are gone the flowers have died the cake well lets face it 1/2 of it was tossed out. Cinderella is still a maid, the limo is now a pumpkin And there is life to face ok after wild crazy monkey sex for 7 nights straight, lets not kid out selfs there are priorities After its all gone there's still bills to pay and a job to go back to

Coastiebride, some of those dresses are absolutely stunning!  So, good lesson here: I should also look at Quinceanera dresses.  THANK YOU!!!

I e-mailed GoodOrient and asked about that dress.  I'm getting married outdoors and everything we're doing is kind of casual...so I don't want a giant skirt or anything too big and heavy.  And they said they can customize the dress.  So I if I send them a picture of something that worked and looked good on me, then send them my measurements, they can work from that.

I feel a little crazy to consider it, but the prices are so reasonable and I really don't want to spend $1500 on a dress.  Any thoughts on this?  Am I insane to consider this?

Thank you all SO MUCH for helping me. I thought I was doomed and was so sad, but I am starting to feel hope! :)

My dress is a knock off Vera Wang.  I forget the style number (couple of seasons ago I believe).  I didn't care that it was a knock off.  I didn't like the dress because it was VW.  I liked the dress because I felt like it would look good on my body type.  It was done by a seamstress who must be an honest to God beading genius.  If you can find someone to make that dress cheaper, go for it.

Mishaboo, did you find someone locally?

I don't really care about the name, I just want something that looks beautiful.  Smile

I did not but a good friend of mine did find a local seamstress.  She made one of our gf's wedding dresses.  It was a straight knock off of Monique Lhuillier.  I was surprised.  She's also probably going to make my MOH's BM dresses for her wedding.  Hers looked a lot like this:    The local lady did her dress for $150ish.

That's what inspired me to do the same thing.  My person was in Minnesota.  I was scared to death, but then really happy once I received the dress.  I didn't even pick the dress.  I described it.  She said it rung a bell of a Wang from a couple of seasons ago.  (I believe she said Wang.  I'll email her and update you.)  Here's my dress though!!!!!  UPDATE: Oh, and just got the email, she said it was designer Reem Acra.  She just didn't choose to do the lace and tulle overlay.

Sorry the pics are so damn big.  I'm trying to resize them.  lol

That is gorgeous!  I think I will probably go ahead and try to get something made like you did.  I went to a shop yesterday to learn more about what shapes look good on my body type.  I think the dress I have in mind will look really good, but I think they have to slim down the skirt so it's not so poufy and also make the train a bit shorter.

This dress-hunting is a little exhausting, though!

Oh, I think it will be very lovely!  The dress itself is just beautiful.  I didn't want a poofy skirt either.  I couldn't handle all of that getting married outside in Florida.
