Red Velvet Wedding Cake
Posted: Jan 28, 2008 7:54 PM

I really want a red vevlet wedding cake.  I have been told it has to have fondant, which I don't want.  I think I found a place that says they can make it with buttercream or creamcheese icing. I am getting married in August so the only concern in the icing and the heat.  We are getting married/reception inside so I think it would be ok. Has anyone has a red velvet wedding cake? Did it turn out well?

We are having one layer be red velvet. We (6 of us) sampled one of her smaller cakes. It had buttercream frosting and was fine. Nothing wrong with it at all. If your reception is inside you should be good then. Go for it. I think it tastes soo good!

Purple velvet would be cute.  All that makes it red is food coloring.  I wonder if they would try it?  That would be too much fun.

HAHA Well our colors are dark purple, white and silver....and my fiance was like our cake wont match...is that ok? So we figure surely some baker understands the mixing of primary colors...I will keep you posted! As long as I have some shade of red velvet I am fine :)
