We changed our date from 6/6/09 to 6/19/09, yup it's a friday....it was much cheaper. I hope everyone's planning is going well.

I'm an 09 girl - April 25, 2009.

We were up in the air about setting a date, but that all changed in September when I went to a wedding fair and won one of the prizes - $1000 towards any vendor that day!! All of a sudden I went from "looking for ideas" to "oh, crap, I have to book something!" The wedding's in Iowa and the fair was in Kansas City, so there was limited options for useful stuff, but I found a really awesome photographer whose "special package" was $995 that day - suddenly we'd booked a photographer!

So, we figured out the date in order to tell the photog, and everything else is coming secondary to that. Photographer booked and paid in full in Sept, and we snagged the fabric and patterns for my dress and the bridesmaid dresses on a visit to my mom a few weeks ago.

So, we now have: a photographer, dresses. No venue! I think we've settled on a park lodge and the debate was whether we could fit everyone we needed to invite, or whether we needed a separate reception place. I'm fairly convinced we'll be just fine if the weather cooperates, and won't be too bad off even if it's horrible out. (Might require some quick-change table movements, but it'd work).

The big issue now - the place only books 12 months in advance, and my FH is hesitant to buy anything based upon a wedding at that location until we book it. We'll still have 12 months, but I want to be snagging cheap table linens and decor if I can!

Good luck with your planning girls - the day will be here before you know it!

April 11, 2009.  I've been looking at things such as dresses and I'm going to look at a few more venue options this week.  Is anyone else getting the cold shoulder from wedding coordinators at venues because your wedding isn't until 2009?  I am and it's starting to piss me off to the point where I might just run away to Vegas.

I've gotten the cold shoulder from several wedding planners and a few venues I looked into. We just changed the date of our wedding from May 30, 2009 to July 25, 2009. And, a lot of people I have called have told me to call back mid-2008. They always seem to say "oh, that's so far away". These people are in the wedding industry...you'd think they understand about wanting to save so we can have exactly what it is we want for our special days. Goodness!!!

Hi, ladies. I was skimming through recent posts and came across this thread. Just wanted to poke my head in and see how things are going. Though we've been engaged for almost a year, it'd only been within the last 3-4 months that FH and I had been planning on an August '08 wedding. With a promotion he recently got and some college graduation problems (extended by 9 months) we're considering pushing the wedding back to May '09. It's a bummer...actually a really big bummer...but will be better for us in the long run. At least that's what I keep telling myself :) So, you might be hearing more from me soon. Don't know how well you guys know each other or anything, but any questions or comments, feel free...

It's so nice to see that I'm not the only one who's waiting until 2009 to get married!  Everyone seems to think that my fiance and I are crazy for waiting so long, but it just makes sense for us to wait because of school.  We've set a date of August 8, 2009.

I understand how you feel. It's a downer to have to keep pushing back the date of your wedding. My FH and I have been engaged since November 2006. We always wanted a long engagement. However, we had always planned on waiting until 2008, but circumstances have forced us to push it back until July 09. It gets SO frustrating. But, I guess the best thing to do is realize that in the long run at least enough will be saved in order for all of us to have the wedding of our dreams! Even today, I've been online for about an hour making sure all of the things I want and envision will be available to us on that special day. Hang in there, ladies. 2008 is right around the corner and before you know it 2009 and our wedding days will be here!

ladytiger, how the heck are you able to wait so long? I'm struggling with our date. We just changed it from 8/24/08 to 5/24/09. We've been engaged since 12/24/06. I'm going nuts waiting. Being together 7 and 1/2 years and having to wait shouldn't be so bad, but it is!

Hi I'm getting married on September 9, 2009 but our reception is the following Saturday on 9-12-2009. We have found the location for the ceremony (though not a backup in case of rain yet) and the location for the reception. So even though it is still quite a ways off I feel like everything else will be easier to deal with because I have a bit more control over the details then over whether the locations we want are available on the dates we want. People tease me constantly about the fact that it is still nearly two years off and I'm already planning but I just tell them that in reality I've been planning my wedding since I was five now I'm just signing contracts.

Hey everyone! FH and I just booked our venue today!! YAY! It's going to be June 18, 2009 yup it's a THURSDAY. Anyhoo, FH and I decided it's a win-win. We figure our closest family and friends won't think twice about comming on a weeknight and I still get my fairytale wedding at a place we both fell in love with, without spending our life savings. It's also a great excuse for a long weekend, and who doesn't want a long weekend right? haha. If anyone's interested in seeing what the venue looks like, then go to www.searlescastlewindham.com I'm soooo friggin excited!!!

Happy Planning Everyone! I can't believe how fast the time is going by!

DruidsGrl, congrats on getting your venue booked, especially in the exact place you want!

I just put down the deposit on my dress on Saturday.  I hadn't planned on getting this involved this early (still a year and four-plus months to go), but I found the deal of a lifetime on the dress I really wanted (about a third of the original price, and the only way it was even remotely going to fit my budget).  I couldn't let it go.

We're going to look at venues while we're home over Christmas, and I'm going to meet with a friend of the family who used to own her own flower shop to discuss floral arrangements, bouquets, etc.  Suddenly I feel like I might actually be getting married!

Our date is 4/25/2009; been together 2 years and got engaged 12/25/2007.

I can't keep myself from planning. Pretty much have a ceremony site all set; gonna start working on reception sites this week. My mom is doing the flowers, FH's friend will more than likely DJ, and family friend has offered to do the photography. Gonna go dress shopping in April and already know what caterer I  wanna use.

Is that too much too soon?
