Hair Color NWR
Posted: Nov 1, 2007 9:36 AM

Ok so money is very tight now with saving for the wedding. I haven't had my hair colored since August and it's starting to get so bad that I have to wear it pulled up every day so you don't see my roots. I really don't have the money to get it trimmed and colored so I was thinking I would color it myself with a box of haircolor from CVS (Clariol..ect.) Does anyone else do this? I never have and I don't want my hair to look terrible. Any tips or suggestions on what brand to buy? Thanks!

funny, I just had a convo with my hair dresser about this yesterday. Ok, so you obviously have to match your current hair color. When you put the stuff on your hair, make sure to only put it on your roots or else you'll damage the already colored hair even more. If some of your original color has faded, just pull the rest of the hair color through with a comb. However, I don't have a recommendation for the brand of hair color you should get. Good luck!

I forgot, in case your wedding is far away, you may just want to get your hair cut and keep growing it out until the color is gone.

My problem is I have dark brown hair naturally. I get carmel colored highlights which is what is growing out now. I basically want to go one color so if I buy haircolor for at home I want to do my enitre head of hair.

I'm actually friends with a hair stylist, and she said the stuff you buy in the store is really unstable.  I used to dye my hair (in high school), and I can't tell you how many times the stuff I bought wasn't even close to the colour that was on the bottle.  I'd be really careful if you decide to go that route.

Good luck, BL3 ladies!
