We met in college & actually had a lot of times where we could have gotten together sooner, but as things played out, we did not officially get together until the end of our 1st year in college. We have been dating for a little over 5 years. Our very first actual date we took a 4hr stroll around campus just talking away into the night, and throughout our college years that actually became a regular event for us to just go walking & talk and hang out enjoying each others' company. So it seems totally appropriate that his spontaneous walk would be the perfect opportunity to propose. We walked down to the playground down the street & he told me to sit on the swing so he could push me. To which I responded, "When was the last time anyone pushed me on a swing?". After he was done pushing me on the swing, he came around in front & asked me if I would make him the happiest man in the world. Which, of course, prompted waterworks & a sudden "Yes!".
Of course as a little girl we all imagine what our wedding will be like, but it never really starts to become fully realized until you meet that one special person. We are hoping to have the ceremony in the middle of a circle of giant oak trees in a park/zoo with fabulous scenery all around and a fountain mid-circle. The reception we have not planned out yet but the general location for the ceremony has been an idea of mine since the first year we were dating. Oh, and despite what Miss Manners and the 1950s etiquette book that I found say, even though the wedding will be outside, I still feel the absolute need to have a train big enough and heavy enough to weigh me down to the ground. I love the idea of having a train that could compete with Princess Diana's.
