Ben and I met through a somewhat unique way. Our dads had gone to high school together but hadn't really seen each other since. His dad had moved to Alaska as a hunting guide and my dad (aside from working on a hot shot crew around LA for awhile) stayed around here. Well, after his dad moved back down here, he posted a question on a trapper forum and the only answer he got happened to come from the same small town, so he asked who he was. It was my uncle, so his dad asked if he was related to my dad (obviously he is) and then they got back in touch. Our families started having dinners together but Ben and I really didn't start hanging out until the 2007 county fair. Well, one year later at the county fair, he got me to go on the Gondola (that Ferris Wheel-like ride that I am terrified of) and proposed :) That was last July 26th and we're getting married this July 25th of 2009.
We're having an outdoor wedding at a park that is placed far out of town but is very well known. It's beautiful and a place my family has been going to for reunions for several years. Most of the things we do will be DIY. It has a forest theme to it, so we're not sticking to a specific color. July 25th is fortunately on a Saturday. My honey and his father camped out at the County Parks office (with many others, fortunately they were about the fifth there) to get our wedding spot reserved because it's not open for reservation until January second and it is very popular. Still a lot of things needing decided, but with God's help it will all fall together in the end.
