shower themes

Jun 12, 2007 8:58 PM

Just recently my fh's aunts asked for me to come up with a theme for my shower. I have searched the net and thought about it, I am still in need of any ideas you may give me.

My shower is called "Around the house," and every invitee has a specific room included in their invite that they have to buy things for.  That way everyone just doesn't get you something for the kitchen, dining room, etc.  My MOH wanted to throw me a lingerie shower, but we don't have that many friends, so she is getting "the bedroom" and can buy anything sexy she wants for me without everyone else having to...

The theme could be anything you want.  It can be based on your honeymoon, antique items, etc.  Think about what the two of you enjoy.....it could be baseball themed.  It depends on what describes you and your fh.....

I am throwing on in January and it will be around the clock theme. Each person is assigned a time in their invite. Then they buy a gift in relation to that time.

I was recently my best friend's maid of honor and now she's my matron of honor.  At her shower we did a cooking theme.  We asked guests to write out their favorite recipes so she could have a cookbook filled with family favorites and we gave heart measuring spoons as favors.  It worked out nicely.

Those are all really cute ideas.

We like to have people over for BBq's, cocktails, games etc. So I want a "that's entertainment" theme  for things to help me entertain.

I've never been to a themed shower, but I saw one on TV where everyone wore beautiful hats. I thought that was nice.

at my best friend's shower there was a sigar and spice theme; the invitation asked that everyone bring one spice and one sweet item to contribute to a gift basket.

I really liked this theme because everyone got to bring whatever they wanted as a gift.  But, it wasn't all that "themey" if you're looking for a "themey" theme.

I like the "Around the House" idea.  The theme doesn't have to relate to the gifts though.  You could do a dessert theme if you're a sweets fan.  If you've just bought or are buying a house then a home improvement theme would be fun (be sure you register at Home Depot).  You could have a Fiesta with Mexican foods and margaritas, espeially great if you will honeymoon in Mexico.

My MOH is hosting a couples shower for us with a "Stock the Bar" theme.  Each guest will bring a bottle of liqour, bar tools, etc--anything that pertains to entertaining.

I have heard of themes based on your honeymoon. Like...a luau (sp?) for a trip to Hawaii, but the gifts wern't based on that. Or lingere showers.

I like the "Around the House" theme. What time of year is your wedding? Maybe get some ideas from that.
