I am 25 and my boyfriend is 29 (30 in november) and we have been together for almost 5 years and living together now for almost a year. I want to get married to this man that I love and start a family together. I have asked him about getting married before and all I keep getting is yes it will happen, or your day will come soon and other things like that. Sometimes he will be sarcastic when I say things as well. He says this every time we talk so I am not sure I really believe it anymore. One time we talked and he said he was scared. I know it is a scary step, but if you love someone shouldn't you want to start this new chapter with that person? That is what I keep telling myself and it depresses me that I am just not sure when and if he will ever ask my to marry him. In my head I have told myself that if I don't have a ring on my finger by our 5 year anniversary I really need to evaluate the situation ( i have told him this as well). Am I wrong in thinking that a man should now about his future life with you before 5 years together and if he wanted what I wanted it would have happened already? I sometimes feel like I am wasting my time and my mom is pressuring me saying that if 5 years comes and goes then he has not changed and I should leave. To add to the mess my 20 year old brother is propossing to his girlfriend in a couple of months. I feel so left behind. I have given him everything and put in everything I just dont know what to do.
