Dilemma!?! Help.
Posted: Jul 15, 2009 1:04 PM

I bought a Maggie Sottero gown from a local retailer who just went out of business. I love the gown, but a new line of Maggie gowns just came out and there is ANOTHER one that I'm interested in doing an exchange on. The problem is this...the local retailer won't do an exchange because they are no longer a business and other Maggie Sottero retailers cannot help me out with this either. So basically I'm screwed with Maggie-associated folks.

Before I make any drastic decisions, I need some feedback. What would you guys do in this position. Below I have posted the pics of both dresses. Tell me which that you like better. Thanks for your help/opinion/comments/etc.

These little pics may not do you any good, but they were the only ones I could find without 'topbridaldresses' scrawled on top of them. They are the Felicia and the Fiorella gowns.

I think you could pull either off! I kinda like the second one though--the straps mean you can dance the night away without worrying about a "wardrobe malfunction"! Hope I helped!
Doh! That's not straps, it's the flash! I still like the second one better though!

I like the second one the most

As we grow older, as we continue to change with age, there is one thing that will never change about me, I will keep falling in love with you all over again every single day

Thanks ladies. And that second one is the NEW ONE that I can't have (as of yet). I'm considering selling the first one on eBay for a month. If it doesn't sell in a month's time, I'd just make the best out of my original purchase.

I am going to go against the grain here. Both are nice, but I really like the simple elegance of the first one. The second one seems to busy to me with all the drapping effects on it.

I think you shouldn't make any decisions until you've tried on both dresses and decided that the second one is really and truly the one you like better. Then make a decision based on your own budget and the liklihood that you'll be able to sell the first one.

I can never tell if I like a dress better until I see it on the bride.

Nessa...I must say that I originally bought my dress because I wanted everyone to see ME in a beautiful gown...NOT a beautiful gown on me. I can see your point in that everyone will definitely notice the detail on the 2nd gown first. I think that's why I was so hype when I saw it! The details are beautiful on the Fiorella gown...and made me completely forget why I bought the first dress. Thank you Nessa for reminding me of what was most important to me in the first place.

I'mma keep all of this in mind...I just learned that I can 'borrow' the Fiorella through any authorized retailer. Who knows...once I try it on, it may look a hot mess.

Ms.Denu...very true. The bad thing about Maggie is that its hard to find most styles in retail locations. I mention in the PP that I read about 'borrowing' the dress from the manufacturer so that it can be tried on. I think they should have all styles in all locations, but that's why I'm in neither retail nor manufacturing ;) ...thanks for your input MsD.

Ebay is really hard because of all those wedding dresses from China for 100 dollars with amazing photos...If you try to see your dress locally on Craigslist you might get a price closer to what you paid. Also, remember if you donate it to charity you get the tax write off. I've never done it so I dont know if that is something equal to getting your money back, but just an idea

Consider donating your gown to our charity to support people impacted by cancer: http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/index.php/monetary-donations/make-a-donation/

Also, if you are in a nearby city that we are having a charity gown sale, we have a great selection of couture/designer gowns ranging from $99 - $5000 that are discounted anywhere from 25-85% retail price (we even offer layaway & the opportunity to donate the gown back to us): http://bridesagainstbreastcancer.org/index.php/upcoming-events/
