A guy needs girls' help...
Posted: Jul 1, 2012 10:22 PM

So here's the story...I recently proposed to my girlfriend with a very high quality 1.13 carat round diamond in a plain platinum setting. I saved for awhile and it set me back 10 thousand dollars. I went to a diamond broker rather than retail to carefully analyze the 4 Cs.

It turns out she hates it and wants something bigger. I'm willing to spend a couple thousand more to get it bigger, but she doesn't want to trade in the one I originally got her. Instead, she wants to write me a check for the diamond towards a new one. So essentially, we'll have two stones.

I need help, is this weird? What should I do? I hate the idea of having her pay for any portion of her ring.

One advice from a lady: If she really loves you and I think she does, the diamonds must not be taken in count :))

Just give her to make her dreams come true, the wedding is once in a life (actually it must be once)

Take it into a diamond specialist and have them mold it with another diamond, but this time bring your girl so she can approve

That is the best solution I think. I knew a couple who were married for about 10 years and for the 10th wedding anniversary the husband bought his wife a bigger engagement ring because he knew she "liked it but didn't love it". It turned out she was a little sentimental when she got the new ring so she went to the jewelers who designed a ring setting to incorporate the original diamond. It turn out truly stunning.
