Reception later?
Posted: Sep 18, 2011 10:34 PM

I was wondering if anyone thought it rude for two people to elope (even though most family and friends know) and then have a party/reception later to celebrate. My fiancÚ and I have been engaged for a year and a half and are currently thinking about eloping. However, I have a few friends that will feel left out, one who is already insisting there must be a reception when we return. I'm not sure if it's what I want, or if it's even appropriate.

I myself like to celebrate marriages even if it's an elopement. I would like being invited to a reception that happens after the couple returns.

But be aware that not everyone thinks like that. Some might see it as a gift grab, some might think "Well, I wasn't good enough to be at the wedding but ..."
