I have been blessed with the incredible honor to be both the best wo"man" to my brother and the maid of honor to my future sister-in-law. The honor is amazing and with that said I am so struggling on how to best write the speeches. I've looked all over the internet for advice but since this scenario is a bit unique I'm coming up with nothing. I'd love to do something unique... perhaps a slideshow, a video, a powerpoint? I'm afraid if I just get up and speak I'll spend far more time crying then speaking and that will just be a mess. Please keep in mind there is also a detailed slideshow that will be played with their memories and photos growing up so I don't want to overlap that too much.
Since you're the attendant for both of them and should keep it short, you should probably focus most on your relationship to them as a couple, as opposed to individual stories about one but not the other.
I was touched by a speech I heard given at a wedding I attended by the best man, the groom's brother. He talked about how secretly jealous he was when he first met the bride because she was taking his brother's attention away and he missed having his best friend all to himself, and then how he came to love her as a part of their family, and at the end he cried as he said that today he got a sister.
