my non-reception, reception.

My fiance and I don't want the traditional reception. What we want is to invite everyone who chooses to come to dinner at a specified restaurant and then to join us at our favorite club. My sister says i need to include that in my invitations. But im not sure how. Any tips?

In what way is that different from a traditional reception?

You are hosting the dinner part of the reception at the restaurant, then hosting the dancing part at the club.

Reception to follow the ceremony:
Dinner at Chik-Fil-A, address, time
Dancing at Club Fifi, address, time

I agree with everyone else. You are good to go with Aunt's suggestion of time and place for both.

I'm not sure about that. Could you have a cake and punch reception instead? I'm not trying to be mean but I don't think that you should invite people to your wedding and then ask them to pay for their meal.

If you are not in a financial position to cover the costs of the dinner reception then I think that maybe you should consider some other options. It would be perfectly acceptable to just serve everyone cake and punch or maybe you could have a brunch reception or a cocktail reception or even a dessert reception.

If you are not paying for their dinner, then it's not a reception.

Serve cake, punch and coffee after the ceremony, and that's your reception.

It is rude to invite people to witness your ceremony and not offer them any kind of food or drink. It is even worse to expect them to pay their own way.
