MrsSy- hope the peeing thing gets better for you!!

Star- how did your appt go?!

Looks like we've all been pretty buys lately! I'm wondering if there are some new mommies?! Hopefully all is going well for everyone! We're doing pretty good. DH is getting busier with his new job. I have 2 interview this week! 1 tomorrow and 1 on Friday! WOOHOO!! So hopefully will hear good news from one of those. I'm a little nervous, both are not in the field I've been in for years, but would be a nice change and interviews just are no fun! So crossing my fingers, I NEED a job SO bad! I'm getting SO bored and we seriously need more income! Hopefully they don't mind I'm 5 1/2 months preggo! haha.....

I got that book Baby Bargains, what a great book! I've been researching like crazy the past week in the hopes that we might go register this weekend. So far, I'm staying pretty sane with it, but I just started the stroller section.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! It's nuts! How in the world do you figure that all out!? There are SO many options for SO many different scenarios, it's so hard to know what you'll actually need when you don't know anything at all! haha SO, I started thinking, LO will be born end of October, so chilly/cold out.

Prob won't be going out for long walks, so no need for a big fancy stroller, will probably just use a sling.

If we go to a mall, thought about those stroller frames that you just put your car seat in... anyone use those??

Then, in the spring when we'll be going for more walks, he'll be 6-7 months old, can get a regular stroller not a travel system? But which kind? There's seriously 60 pages to read through for strollers! yikes!

I want a jogging stroller but I read you really shouldn't use one until baby is a year b/c of neck muscles, well that would be Oct again so would wait till he's like 16-18 months old to use that?

So, I think I got most of the other stuff down, including the car seat (I think infant car seat to start, then a convertible for after and longer, prob Graco Snugride), but this stroller thing has me for a loop!

Ideas?! :)

Also, asking all of you ladies to send up a prayer for my friend. She's 33 1/2 weeks and found out that she has umbilical cord issues. She's had really low amniotic fluid a few times and they went to a specialist today and found out it was the umbilical cord. So she'll have tests again tomorrow and if they aren't good they'll deliver her tomorrow. It's her first so I know she has to be out of her mind scared.

Thanks ladies, sorry for the long post!!! Hope everyone's having a good week!!! :)

Brooke, I found registering for the baby far less enjoyable than registering for the wedding! Because of the very reason you said: you're getting products that you don't even know how/whether you'll use yet. It's hard.

Stroller: love the stroller frame. I got the Graco stroller frame to go with our Grace infant carseat. But the alternative, Snap & Go, is competitively priced and just as good. I think Janice owns that.

Baby Bargains (don't know if you've gotten to this) recommends against getting a travel system. They say the travel system strollers are not good quality so parents often end up buying another stroller anyway.

But an additional alternative: A number of strollers out there now come with infant car seat adaptors. So you only have to buy one stroller! Yay!

I love love love our Baby Jogger City Mini stroller. You can steer with one hand. It's narrow. It takes bad sidewalks well. It is not a jogging stroller, but they make a City series stroller that is a jogging stroller. Everyone I know who owns a City series stroller loves them. On the other hand, BOB is THE jogging stroller company and the people I know that have them love them, too. But they're $400-500. So it just depends on what you have to spend.

Whatever stroller you get, don't forget to check out the storage it offers. A disadvantage of the City series is they don't come with cup holders--you have to purchase separately. Dumb. That may not be important to you now, but if you're out all day, say at a county fair or amusement park or something, and you want to be able to carry a sippy of water around for your LO, where the heck are you gonna put it?!

Sorry for the long-windedness. Hope that helps, though.

P.S. The Baby Jogger City Series does offer car seat adaptors. I don't know how much they cost.

We have the Maclaren version of the stroller frame. Love it! It folds like an umbrella stroller. We have used it a couple of times this week and I still love it.

Oh, Grace is here! Not sure I posted that here. She was born on 6/16 at 7:03 pm. She was 7 lbs 2.5 oz and 20 in long.

Labor was pretty easy. Pushed through 3 contractions, no tearing or anything. We went home 24 hr after her birth and she's doing great.

Janice- CONGRATS!! She's beautiful!! Glad your labor and delivery went well! :)

Happy- THANK YOU! The stroller section of that book is just OVERWHELMING because of how MUCH is out there! But I was looking at the frames for car seats too, and that City Mini was mentioned.... so I'll try to tackle that section again tomorrow then I think we're ready to register. I totally see your point about registering might not be as fun. If you didn't care about safety or quality it probably would be tons of fun just picking out tons of cute stuff! But it's actually a little stressful trying to find the best stuff for your LO when you're still pretty unsure of everything since you've NEVER REALLY used it before!! haha oh well, we'll see how it goes! :) Thanks again!

I hated registering with a passion. I went with a stroller frame - I hate those stroller/travel systems. I think I've been around to many people being ignorant and using them as battering rams.

One of the things that I was really happy I registered for was this play mat - we have hardwood floors so this goes under her tummy time mat and whatnot.

It comes in different colors. :-)

Congrats MrsPaul! He's gorgeous. I am glad you got the labor you wanted! Breastfeeding is often a challenge the first time around. I really struggled for about the first month with Faith, but once we got it down it was a snap. Grace has been a lot easier and I think that's mostly because I have a better idea of what I am doing.

Do you have any books on breastfeeding? I really found a lot of useful info in "The Nursing Mothers Companion". http://www.amazon.com/Nursing-Mothers-Companion-6th-Anniversary/dp/1558327207/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1309094216&sr=8-1

I also have Ina May's Guide to Breastfeeding which I have read as completely but when I browsed for specific topics last week I thought the info was good. Just know she pushes breast is best. http://www.amazon.com/Ina-Mays-Guide-Breastfeeding-Gaskin/dp/0553384295/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1309094580&sr=8-1

Also, if you ever need to moral support, you can friend me on Facebook (message me if you want the info). I would be happy to help in any way I can. Best advice I was given was to try for 2 weeks. It seemed like when I got Faith back on the breast 100% for 2 weeks we really synced up and did well from then on. Faith didn't seem to have trouble switching between the breast and the bottle but I think the bottles were part of it. What type of bottles are you using? The lactation consultant wanted me to avoid Dr. Brown style bottles in favor of the wider styles that were designed to be more like the breast.

Grace was jaundice too as was Faith. It was much more stressful with Faith than Grace since we knew the tricks and what would need to happen. We went home when Grace was 24 hrs old and just saw the Ped the next morning. We did a few rounds of sun therapy (just taking her out in the sun in just her diaper in 3-5 min stretches) and luckily my milk came in at about the 48 hr mark so I nursed her like crazy. The next morning her levels were low risk so we were cleared to just come back for her 2 week visit.

Well, Grace is starting to squirm, need to change her and feed her again. Enjoy your little one!

I have to second Janice on avoiding the Dr Brown's in my experience if only because MK sucked down her first bottle in them SOt fast, I knew it was coming too quick and easy "(even with a slow vent nipple).

We use first years breastflow bottles. They are wider like Janice was saying. But you have to play around to find what works best for you guys.

We got pregnant really quickly after getting married. The BC I was taking was messing with my blood pressure so I went off of it right after the honeymoon. We intended to prevent with a combination of condoms and family planning for awhile, but we suck at both. :)

Any new babies to report? I think we have a few ladies MIA!

Grace is 4 weeks old today. Time is flying by!

And lastly...My photographer blogged about us! And I have a little favor, if you have a chance, would you mind posting a comment on our blog entry? For every 10 comments on the blog post we get extra photos, so I would love it if you all could take a moment and post a little comment about the girls photos! Thanks!

Amy, I am part-time and my husband is self-employed so we have private insurance and its impossible to find maternity coverage anymore. Starting in Spring of last year all the private insurance companies I have talked to, eliminated the optional riders for maternity coverage. We had to pay out of pocket for Grace's pre-natal care and delivery. Not sure that's what you want to hear, but that's been my experience. Best of luck!

Hey, I am not sure anyone on here has PCOS. This is an interesting blog about curing or improving PCOS with the Paleo diet. http://www.primaltoad.com/pcos/

If anyone is looking for a pack n play, Costco had one for a fantastic price - less than $50!
