Advice for location of Destination Wedding in Mexico
Posted: May 16, 2011 1:41 PM

I am planning my wedding for this October and I cannot for the life of me decide on a resort. My FH and I need a resort that is all-inclusive and family friendly. We like the Cancun/Riviera Maya area. I have been reading reviews for all the resorts we have looked at, and they all have really good reviews and also really bad ones. I want to make sure this resort is something everyone can enjoy.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about any of the following resorts:

1)Barcelo Palace Deluxe
2)Now Jade Cancun
3)Karisma Azul Sensatori
4)Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun

Any first hand information that anyone has will beb very helpful! Thanks!

Hi LVS,

I haven't been to those specific resorts, but I have been to Aventura Spa Palace in late 2007 and I loved it!

Aventura was adults-only but we visited several of the other Palace resorts and had a nice time.

I really don't have anything negative to say about my experience - the food was amazing, the rooms were amazing (in-room liquor bar!), the staff were wonderful.

I haven't been back since 2007 so things may have changed, but I do know that Palace resorts have a reputation for being one of the best. I think you would be very happy with the Moon Palace resort or any of the other family friendly Palace resorts.

A girlfriend of mine did the azul sensatori the same year I did mine in jamaica. She loved it. She did say Mexico was harder to get married in than Jamaica. Which is why we decided on Jamaica. I would look at trip advisor, but also my Travel Agent--who is a really a destination wedding specialist, and works for free, was the best. She priced a ton of stuff for me and gave me an unbiased opinion. Bunches of girls on here used her. www.travelbyvip.com (I used the President, Jennifer Donsez)
It doesn't hurt to consult with someone and she always answered me right away.

If at all possible I recommend you and your fiance take a weekend trip down to the area in Mexico you'd like to get married and have appointments set up at the top six to eight resorts you are interested in - you will have a great time doing it and will feel much more confident with your final decision.

I maintain a listing of high-end resorts in Mexico by region that should help you with your planning:

Congratulations on the engagement and enjoy the planning process!

Until the end of March of this year, I worked for AM Resorts and I know the NOW Jade very well. Definately a great resort, close to Cancun´s International Airport and very kids friendly! Not too sure of you made your choice yet. I just switched jobs and work now as the Director of Weddings for a local company down here in Cancun. I can certainly help you to get in touch with them, set up your hotel reservations, airport transfers, tours and with the actual wedding planning. Let me know.

Hey LVS,

I wanted to give you some contact info for the girl that helped me plan my destination wedding. They check out all of the resorts and have first hand knowledge of the best locations. Her name is Jamie her toll-free # is 866-365-8747 and her email is jamie@luxetraveldeals.com. I told her about your questions and she said to give you her contact info if you wanted the dish on the resorts. I know she has relationships with many of the resorts you had listed and may be able to offer some suggestions or even get you a great deal. Good luck and congratulations!
