Father NOT giving me away
Posted: Nov 24, 2010 2:41 PM

My father and I are recently reconciled after an on-again/off-again estrangement that spans 30 years. I would like to dance with my father at the reception, but a family friend will be giving me away. How do I refer to this family friend in the program and at the reception introductions? My father will be listed and introduced as Father of the Bride. "Bride's Escort" does not seem to hold my friend in the esteem I feel. He is a long-time family friend and surrogate father to me. Any thoughts on wording?

How about just Bride's Escort and Long-time Family Friend -

I think that get the point across to me. If I think of nything else I'll post it later.

I'm sure someone else will have a really good idea that I'll love! LOL Be sure to bump your thread after the holiday weekend if I'm the only one who replies as there is definitely less online traffic over a weekend and this is a long weekend at that.

Good luck!

The very fact that he is escorting you should serve to demonstrate the esteem in which you hold him.
