now he's got my sisters in on it!
Posted: Sep 9, 2010 6:30 PM

So in my previous post I explained that my bf has asked my father for his "permission" to marry me. Now I just found out that he is talking to my sisters about asking me too. I have "caught" him talking to both my sisters about something and he always tells me that it is nothing. I gave in to my impatience and tried to see if I could get any info from my sister but then she denied even talking to him and told me to not worry and stop snooping. I know I should just sit and wait patiently but I am a planner and it is hard for me to not know what is going on! Both my bf and my sister have tell tale behaviors that tell me they are keeping a secret so I know that there is something being planned. I am going CRAZY!!!

Dear BK,

Time to get lost in a really good novel.

Have you read Harry Potter? Twilight Saga? War and Peace?

I actually am reading a Nicolas Sparks novel right now but that probably isn't the best choice lol :). I will have to go look for a novel that doesn't center around love and romance :)Thanks for the advice though...I should find something to fill my mind with.

Running With Scissors.

Kinda effed up, but a really good book. That should keep your mind off things.

This thread has officially become a Book Recommendation thread. *;)

Read "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand. It's one of the longest books I've ever read, but I really enjoyed it. You could also try something darker. "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" is a fantastic book, or at least it was when I read it (in Swedish), not quite sure how the English translation has turned out.

Love me when I least deserve it, because that is when I need it the most. (Swedish proverb)

Since we're on the topic of book recommendations... You might try www.bookbrowse.com. It's a great site to help find things to read. I can log in using my library card information and it will even tell me if the book I want is available at my local library.

Pretty useful in my opinion...

I'm with Van - I recommend 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' trilogy. I read it in English and LOVED them!

Fun fact about that first book, PharmTox:

The original title, translated directly from Swedish to English, is "Men That Hate Women" or "The Men That Hated Women". Frankly, I think that suits the book MUCH more than "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", but that's just me. lol

I recommend "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. It's depressing but hopeful at the same time and well-written. (It was also made into a movie starring Viggo Mortensen, but I haven't seen it.) And it was hard to put down, sort of like the Harry Potter books in that way.

He's the guy that wrote "No Country For Old Men" that was made into the movie starring Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem.

Frankenstein.

It's a classic for a reason.

Oh, Frankenstein is a WONDERFUL novel!

On that note, Bram Stoker's Dracula is also a fantastic read. Much better than any movie, in my humble opinion. *;)

Angels and Demons. It's action packed with a twist you didn't see coming in the end.

Meg. Because everyone loves giant killer prehistoric sharks.

I don't know if you are into Stephen King books, but if you are I highly recommend Under The Dome. Pretty long book and really good. A friend of mine let me borrow her copy and I just could not put it down.
