How do I register with a store that doesn't have a registry center?

I would love to register for some items at West Elm, but they don't have any kind of registry service. I could rely on my mom to spread the word but I'm afraid that without an itemized check list to look through people won't even bother. Is there a better way to do this?

If they don't have a registry center, then it's going to be difficult. You can rely on your Mom to relay things or if people ask she could tell them that you would like to have gift cards from that store as they don't have a registry.

Ah, I didn't think about a gift card. That would be a good idea. Thanks!

Dear Orbital,

Why not go to the store, and ask to speak with the store manager? Tell that person what you want to do and see if they can be of any help.

If the store has items advertised online, you could put them into an Amazon registry. Amazon has things set up so that you can list not just products from Amazon, but products from any online source, on your Amazon registry. It enabled us to have items from Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, and Target all listed in one place.

I called West Elm last night and they said at this time they don't have a registry service, but that they can do a 'wish list'. What we would have to do is make a list of the items that we want and then keep a copy of that list for ourselves and give a copy to the store manager to keep on file. Unfortunately, the closest West Elm is about 45 miles away, so without an online system to manage the registry requests, it would be quite a hassle for guests to make the trip just for a gift. I think what we'll do is have my mom relay the message to anyone that asks, that we would like West Elm gift cards.
