What if my outfit was "book smart" but not "street smart"?

Funny. After googling, I've found this is actually something legitimate that people say. But, going by the wikipedia definition of "smart casual" at least, this isn't helpful. Knowing the couple involved, I think that they were worried people might show up in cocktail dresses, and just wanted to say don't do that. But, I swear, I'm missing the days back when time, date, and location told me all I needed to know about what to wear.

Now that you've figured out "smart casual," what's "stupid casual"? For my daughter's RD, which the invitation described as a "Mexican fFesta---Come Shake Your Maracas," we specified "colorful casual" and still got several phone calls asking what that meant. Whatcha' gonna' do??

I seem to get more confused when told a 'style' then when I'm not.

Maybe I'm stupid casual.... LOL
