I am getting married this summer and have decided to DIY mt centerpieces for the tables of the wedding reception. I didn't want to do anything with flowers. While doing some research I came across some picture luminaires. What you do is put 3 picture frames together and add pictures on vellum. My picture frames are clear with words around the border such as i love you, forever and always, you're the one, etc. I have used a hot glue gun to glue the frames together using as little glue as possible. You can still see the glue but its not too much where it just stands out. I am going to do the battery powered tea lights in the center of them. What do you think of this idea???
I think your photo luminaire sounds nice. It's different than the typical floral centerpiece and it personalizes your reception. If the glue is minimal, I don't think your guests will even give it a second thought. They'll be looking at the photos and all the other things going on at the reception:) Don't second guess yourself!!
Also, there are TONS of centerpieces that aren't flowers. I'm doing bead embellished silk fans in tea cups surrounded by pearls and votives. I love your different idea!
