pink kitten heels??
Posted: Dec 11, 2009 11:53 PM

I have seen so many cute wedding pictures were the bride is wearing brightly colored shoes with her dress. I am looking for fuschia heels and I am having a really hard time! I can find plenty of really high heel pink shoes but I am looking for a really low heel, preferably a kitten heel. My fiance is only about 3 inches taller than me and I have this weird thing about not wanting to be the same height as him lol Silly I know but I can't seem to find heels with just a tiny heel. I originally was going to wear flats, but according to my mother people look better walking in heels than flats lol Whatever that means!

I am totally not a shoe person so I was hoping someone could give me some suggestions?? Also I don't think I can handle paying more than a 100 dollars for a pair of shoes so that kinda limits my options!

Any help you guys can give me would be really appreciated!!!!

I ordered a pair of coloriffics in white and then took them to a local shoe repair place and had them dyed hot pink. =) If you google coloriffics you can see all the styles. You can get them dyed through their site, but I found the style I wanted on a different site that didn't dye shoes. Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestion...I will have to take a look at their site!!

One other question that might be really stupid but like I said...I am not a shoe person! If i bought a pair of like 3 inch heels...would a cobbler (or whatever the people are called that fix shoes lol) be able to make the heel smaller? I found an adorable pair of heels the other day for 20 bucks but they had a 4 inch heel and I had no idea if that was something that could be changed by a professional???

Short answer: No. The base of the shoe is built around the height of the heel, so it would really muck around with the shoe's basic structure.

Depending on how the shoe is made, some shoe repair places may be able to take 1/2-1in off of the heel. I have never gotten this done, I prefer taller heels, but I have seen 1 pair of shoes that had it done and it looked fine, you couldn't tell anything was altered. I work in a shoe store and a lot of my customers have told me they've had this done and the shoes turn out fine as well. If you find something, it's definitly worth taking to a shoe repair and asking if they can shorten it!

My cobbler is able to take heels down about 1/2-3/4 of an inch. That's about the limit. As for color, almost any white fabric shoe can be dyed in your choice of colors. I have two pairs of really gorgeous satin ballroom dancing shoes (both of which I've had dyed--I just wore one pair to a wedding tonight!) The nice thing about these is that you can choose your heel height and heel shape, even get extra padding in the bottoms so they're really comfy. I've used backbaydancewear.com for both. They were not cheap, but I've worn and worn them. By the way, once you've finished with your hot pink shoes, you can re-dye them black and get a lot more wear out of them.

I hate to disagree with your mother, but if you don't usually wear heels, and you don't know how to walk in them (because it's very different than walking in flats and takes a lot of practice!), you'll definitely look better walking in flats. The difference between heels and flats is that heels force better upper body posture to keep your balance properly, and they make you leg look longer, but as you're wearing a full length dress, and you'll probably be wearing a dress or bra with some kind of structure in the torso, heels aren't going to make that big of a difference for you. I'm also close in height to FH, and my normal three to four inch heels make me tower over him, so I'm going with flats for the day. I pulled a couple shoes I thought were cute, a couple of them are slightly above your price range, but I thought they were so adorable, I couldn't resist!!!
